From the project twitter today:

This is a close-up of the main bridge tower’s lower crossbeam, where large steel pieces are being installed to form the “pier table.”
Once the pier table is completed, crews can begin installing steel beams and concrete deck panels outward from the bridge tower.

^Yup. The advantage of over just using earthen fill is the light weight which reduces settling of the ground bellow. Particularly important if there is existing burried utilities.

Awesome shots guys! You can see the off ramp really taking shape now. The best part of this project along with the new overpass on the SFPR.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Re9J0_9d5Q&t=301s as what I had posted on an update, they are making good progress with doing the soil with the retaining walls for the freeflow highway traffic on Highway 17 with additional girders and supporter columns being installed on the south and north side for the Pattullo Bridge

From the project twitter:

Posted March 12th:

Crews are now installing concrete deck panels outward from the main bridge tower to create the future bridge deck.
In this photo, 8 precast deck panels have been installed onto the pier table on the bridge tower’s lower crossbeam.

https://twitter.com/pattulloproject

In this photo taken in January in @New_Westminster, you can see pier N2 and a temporary tower near Front St.
Front St. is now closed as crews install steel girders to connect pier N2 and the temporary tower. The steel girders installed here will support the future bridge deck!

This month, crews poured concrete to form the pier cap at pier SR3 in @CityofSurrey
This pier will support a new off-ramp to connect the #PattulloBridgeReplacement to Highway 17 westbound.

does anyone have the final alignment, connections, etc of this project? i remember seeing a few variations over the years but i am not sure what the final ended up being.

i would hope something that interchanges with the SFPR as its a major connection.

Feels like they easily could've added in a WB HWY 17 -> Bridge connection, and maybe loop in a Bridge -> EB HWY17 connection in there. Wasted opportunity to make some better connections.

Entirely on New West, climbing lanes could have been used as add/drop lanes for safety, not volume, but - scary six lanes

Look at the rendering, those exist on the New West side.

The proposed maps that I have from 2016 showed a "Scott Road Extension" that would have gone just west of 124th Street, between Highway 17 and King George, that would have had an on-ramp to the Pattullo Bridge along with a flyover that would have connected into Scott Road on the south side of King George. While there still would have been a light on Highway 17 where this would have connected for the westbound traffic (like there is at Bridgeview Drive) it likely would have been a bit of a shorter trip as there wouldn't be the extra light along Bridgeview to deal with; trucks could have just gone straight onto the bridge.
