Manulife Centre in Toronto does have a weird base, if I recall.

I have a question. Pictured below is the new World Trade Center Station in NYC.

There is a building in downtown Toronto that has an atrium/ceiling that kind of looks like this, but only quite a bit smaller.

Can anyone help me? It was built about 20-25 years ago I think.

The details are not what you usually see in lower end projects. There's nothing with the massing or exterior that screams cheap. Brick was cheap. It's crude to view every slab as a Soviet era block. It's just dated compared to the window wall, painted concrete and, point tower forms of today. The tower is 35 years old.

You are probably referring to the Allen Lambert Galleriea (or BCE atrium) in Brookfield Place, designed by Santiago Calatrava. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brookfield_Place_(Toronto)

Come to think of it I haven't been down there in years. EDIT: looks like laceoflight beat me to it!

For some reason I associated it with the name "Bell", and is it turns out the building used to be called BCE Place... but Brookfield now.

Built in 1972, so it's 44 years old now...

Manulife centre may not the prettiest of buildings that's for sure, but it definitely has a place in the architectural history of the city of Toronto.. great brutalist style I think makes almost timeless if you ask me.

BCE acquired a massive real estate empire in the 1980s. This complex pretty much killed it. They lost a small fortune on it. This project is one that really put Calatrava on the map particularly in North America.
