Very nice. That's some new desktop material. You also got a photo of my parked truck.

Nice. I've always loved being able to see the hills peek above the horizon line between the buildings.

This might be the best photo of Austin I've ever seen. Look at how dense we look! And this doesn't even include anything west of the W. The city framed in greenery, the Rainey towers in front of everything else, even the apartments in the bottom of frame look great. Man this is a great photo.

It is a great photo but I also think the one above it is just as great. It shows much more of the skyline, still shows the urban forest tree canopy and is just as dense looking. The great thing about that spot is it's just a couple of blocks away from my house.

I love the photos, but they are a bit deceptive. They all tend to make Austin look more dense than it actually is.

Oh totally....I'm still waiting for that day when I walk/drive through downtown and think "holt shit this is a metropolis". We're on our way

We are on our way. Drive down 2nd, 3rd or 4th, even 5th to an extent. Those have impressive canyon effect corridors which will only continue to build up. It's funny because while we hear DT isn't very big in terms of area, maybe it isn't compared to other cities, I wouldn't know to be honest. Still DT is pretty spread out IMO. Especially with the West End extending the skyline to Lamar. Also part of the problem is elevation. The view of DT from the north is just not that impressive but that is due to the elevation dropping down to the river more gradually so much of that area of DT is hidden from view completely. You just can't really get the full scope of the skyline from the north compared to south of the river.

Here are some downtown photos from the Riverside area. I 'de-hazed' them which made them kinda blue-green. Original versions at the link. https://imgur.com/a/AgKGp8N

Those last two pics show Austin in its most flattering way. The more I study them, the more I can see into the future of how potential plans could change the whole look of the downtown area. You can also see where the deficiencies are. By far my favorite photographic angle of the city. And once again, thank you AusTxDevelopment for providing us with these up to date awesome pictures.

That would actually deprive me of one of my favorite stretch of highways for viewing downtown from 41st to Oltorf. But I do agree with you. I know I35 has had a contentious relationship with the east side of it, but setting aside that for another argument on another day, I like the way it gives downtown an eastern border line or edge if you will, the way the river gives it on the southern end. It begs to be lined with much higher quality and taller structures, but then I guess that would block the main attraction. But dated, ugly, 80s era fails like the Hilton Garden Inn and the building right next to it, and the police station, Texas Monthly's parking garage, ect...well to be civil, those are...….disappointing. The Hilton Garden Inn and its butt ugly neighbor with the undefinable and wtf design, are the two worst looking buildings downtown, and the worst part of it is they are front and center to thousands of drive bys everyday. I'd be ok if they just cut and cap in front of them.

Great to see so much green cover. I wonder what these aerials would look like without the city tree ordinances...
