Had a look at it the other day, beautiful woodwork throughout. Should be just like an ol pub in Ireland ... minus the flying fists hopefully.

Real Irish people making an Irish Pub!! Stop the presses - it's a First!
Hey, if they hire Irish bar staff, will The Man close them down for racist hiring practices?

Mahony and Sons will be open as of tomorrow... $5.75 a pint. There will be 150 outdoor seating spots by summer.

nice - it looks really nice inside - i like the doorway they created replacing the glass and the even added a two sided indoor/outdoor fireplace with some kind of stone where the glass used to be

good to know. because i was walking past it on Saturday night and noticed that people were in there but the place was empty. i was having a little panic about maybe it failing really quickly.

i guess i'll have to walk by and see another night once they're actually open. it obviously has the same atmosphere as the Mahony and Sons in UBC.

They will also have live music 2 or 3 nights a week, should be a big hit and a great place to people watch on the outside.
Interestingly enough, there hasn't been any work being done at the Cactus Club for a LONG time now.

Its next to the dental building in the complex with the new shoppers across from the outdoor pool. Good lamb stew.

Cactus Club decided to focus on getting the new English Bay location ready for summer, rather than rush two projects.

This location will probably be late 2011/early 2012...they would've missed this year's patio season anyway.

Can't wait for Mahony's (150 seat patio) and new Cactus (200 seat patio)...then you've got the Mill, Lift and Cardero's...summertime waterfront patio pub crawl anyone?...hell yes!! Gonna be so good...

Yeah I definitely feel that man. And what about that other restaurant that is supposed to fill that hole near the steps that lead down to the seaplane terminal? Any word on when construction is supposed to start?

I think that is still aways away. It is up to the parks board, and only after the current seaplane terminal is shut down. If the restaurant in the complete Creekside Community Centre is any indication, I'd say Fall 2012 at the earliest.

That's a fair amount of progress, indeed. I see what they mean about column-free docks. Presumably they are anchored to piles just below the surface?
