Great pics, guys!

Those aerials are some of the best drone shots I've seen of downtown. The SXSW Building looks great there. I've noticed recently it plays with the light in a really different way from just about any other building in downtown.

Whatever your thoughts are on the architectural merits of what happened at Green Water, you gotta admit, that is a whole lotta density that really added some beef to the face of our skyline. I don't think any other buildings on the southern end of downtown have done for the skyline what they have. I can't wait to see that same view in 5 years.

Yeah, The Independent for sure, and The Austonian added a lot, but I'm talking about density. Up until Green Water was redeveloped, there hadn't really been anything like it in Austin. Third + Shoal and Austin Proper are so close they might as well be one building. I also think Block 185 will steal everyone's thunder, maybe even The Republic's.

I spend so much time looking at photos like that in detail. I liked this one especially because you can see both where almost everything new as of late has appeared, but also it's easy to envision where everything still to come will take their positions.

..and thanks paul!

Beautiful pic, but please move the drone just a bit left so the Capitol is visible.

Does anyone know what's going on at Butler Park? At first I thought they were fixing or upgrading the fountain since it's long past it's former glory. Looks like they are reshaping that section??

I've heard this area called mini-Manhattan

Yeah, they probably could have moved the drone a bit farther to the west and still would have been able to capture the new tower construction sites while seeing the Capitol. I like these type of drone shots because they show how well the CVCs have preserved the view of the Capitol and even emphasize its importance.

I don't think current zoning allows buildings more than 60' right now. It's not CBD.

I've been wondering the same thing about East Austin. At some point development will have to jump both of those dividing lines. We're gonna run out of of developable parcels in the CBD at some point.

EDIT: and that pic is a beaut. Wish there had been drones in 2009 -- I'd love to see a comparable shot from 10 years ago.

It's also amazing that a shot like this still doesn't get the extent of the growth. Rainey barely makes it in and of course that whole area will be unrecognizable in 5 years.

Actually, there is already one high rise west of Lamar. It's the Capstar at Compass Plaza building. It's 117 feet with 8 floors. Otherwise, everything else over there is low rise. I wouldn't be too surprised to see a few more infill projects over there of similar height along 3rd & 4th Streets, but I kind of doubt we should be expecting anything really tall over there.

I think he meant you're preaching to the choir.
