Office space, Fairmont Hotel , element Hotel ... will have ground floor bars and restaurants and rooftop pool and speakeasy on rooftop from plans that were filed

MEPG recently completed the engineering plans for the repurposing of the 1010 Common building in New Orleans. Kailas Companies is the owner/developer of this 31-story skyscraper that was built in the early 1970’s. The building is being transformed from an office building to a dual brand hotel, while still maintaining six floors of office space. The hotels are Accor’s Fairmont Hotel and Marriott’s Element Hotel.

1031 Canal Documentary

This is a pretty good new documentary about the saga of 1031 Canal Street, something covered extensively on this board.

I know the mall area is undergoing renovations and Target was finished not long ago, but they are driving pilings in Target parking lot with a big fenced off area right near the corner of Vets and Clearview...any info

i knew that smalls signed a lease there but they never quite said where it would be located. i really am curious to see what clear view center ultimately looks like site layout wise because the renderings we saw while nice always seemed a bit pie in the sky but who knows how it turns out ultimately

i always enjoy this guys videos as well as the bankrupt ones. feel bad for hard rock to some degree here too because the name is sort of tainted now in this market and it really wasn’t their project just a branding contract but goes to show you how risky lending your name can be if the local partners are second rate.

Have they ever said what’s going to happen to the site now ? Will it just be a vacant lot for the foreseeable future?

Kind of low to take a dig at Drew, especially with the recent news about his arm.

Don’t think anything can happen until the lawsuits get cleared out.

Mostly interesting in its potential to become a trend, but this bank branch opening in Elmwood will be solar and geothermal powered. It's a nice design for a bank too in my opinion.

Unfortunately , as said before I think we are looking at years of lawsuits there. everyone suing everyone and then the city is being sued by the developers for removing the CU for allowing the extra density that allowed the original building, which even with my limited legal knowledge seems a blatant violation of the law(not sure why they thought this was a good idea but government doesnt actually have to pay its own legal bills like we do so they dont care about lawsuits that last years) Also, with no criminal charges filed against anyone I think this scenario is all but guaranteed.

Unfortunately, that block will be the victim of such shortsighted nonsense for years to come. Im sure appeals will happen after that regardless of rulings. Best bet is for the Kailas family to sell the property and thats not likely. I just hope that some sort of temporary use of the property can happen that at least make it appealing from the sidewalks and street until such a time as its developable.
