we have an enormous amount of work to do up there. the windows are stocked and ready to go but the entire 58th floor steps in so a sill had to be installed around the entire perimeter of the building. in addition to that the cladding on the roof needs to prepped. theres more to it than that but thats the skinny on things

^^ Thanks for your answers. We were wondering if the building's crown would set back and give some depth, and apparently it will.

Based on the framing it doesn't look like it will very much. This building is apparently just a lot flatter and boxier than many of us would have wanted.

I don't know about that, there are plenty of proposed and on hold projects to keep us all wishing and watching, not to mention the occasional rumor, rant or wild speculation.

It looks like they are progressing with work on the crown. Late today there are a few new panels of glass up along the north side of the building.

The panels are set back a bit from the glass below.

I had thought that the whiteish framing that has been up for a while was just support for the 'fins' that were left to be installed. Unfortunately the new top row of glass seems to go almost behind the framing, leading me to think that the framing are the 'fins'.

no jc, that tube steel will be cladded with fins. Also, the panels we are setting are to be illuminated. Should make for a nice illuminated crown on the 58 and 59th floors.

Good to hear. So there is the possibility for greater texture at the level of the crown.
