[QUOTE=mcminsen;10161442]My surgery went well and what luck, I scored a top floor room with a view.
I can't tell you how therapeutic it is to be able to see out and watch the sky
for several days as you're completely immobilized and zonked out on Hydromorphone.

This was my view last weekend.

Hope your recovery goes well. You could ask to be on the construction side of that hospital. Get us shots.

Thanks everyone. My recovery is indeed going well. I have to be careful to not overdo it for a while.
My surgeon said no running or downhill skiing or the like.

Re: St. Paul's... The new St. Paul's Hospital is under construction in another part of the city, near Pacific Central Station on Main.
The oldest part of St. Paul's on Burrard will be preserved and the rest of the old site will eventually be redeveloped.

A hug from Italy. Happy recovery, my Canadian friend

Good to hear. Hopefully the recovery goes smoothly.

3C and sunny late this afternoon. Breezy so it's not super pleasant. Also took a while to clear, around 3PM

Low of -3C (wind chill of -11). Snow last night so we woke up to a renewed snow blanket that had pretty much melted the day before.

The warmspot was Fort Frances, ON at 16.0C.

Warmest low was Entrance Island, BC at 6.3C

I think I know now what it feels like to be in St. John’s.

Bald eagles seen nesting in Toronto for first time in city’s recorded history

I posted a couple months ago about seeing one flying over while in my backyard. Four years ago saw one outside Hamilton and ten years ago a couple outside of Guelph. They continue to get closer and closer and they’ve now arrived in TO. Of course, I’m sure they’ve flown over before but damn, are they going to be here to stay? See hawks (a couple might have been some kind of eagle), falcons and occasional osprey all the time but the king of all eagles is something special.

Cloudy and 0 at 12:30PM.

Special weather statement for 25-50mm of rain from Monday evening through Tuesday. Guess we're trying to see if we can flood the city....

I saw a bald eagle on the side of the 403 outside Brantford a few weeks ago - first time I’ve seen one in Ontario. Huge birds.

I see eagles all the time, there's been a nest down the road the last few years. It's almost a guarantee to see eagles flying along Hwy 3 between Leamington and Blenheim. I've also spotted them along the Thames river west of Chatham and along the St. Clair River.

We see bald eagles here in Windsor and Essex County quite often nowadays, especially compared to years ago when they were very uncommon. They have nests in the city along the Detroit River, as well as Amherstburg, Belle River and Harrow. We probably see them at least 10 times a year lately.

Yeah, really can’t tell just how big they are until you see them up close. They have them at Mountsberg conservation area in Milton in their raptor centre. You see them in their enclosure just a few feet away. Also do a show there.

There’s a guy outside Oshawa that would let you be a falconer. Basically, put the leather thing around your arm and the hawk and owl perch on your arm and you throw food or something and it flies and grabs it and comes back. It was only like $45 ten years ago. The only other one I knew of was in Acton, but that was like a hundred bucks. Oshawa too far and hours not compatible with when I am there, just like the tank museum there where you can ride in one for a decent price. Or an armoured personnel carrier for cheap.

Yay, the Americans are coming! (I saw a bald eagle nesting near Tilsonburg last May.)

Overcast grey skies with a very cold wind and snow flurries in Toronto. No accumulation unfortunately.

+2C and light drizzle in Moncton at 9 AM.

Quite a variable weather pattern over the Maritimes right now. There is a snowfall warning in northern NB for today (maybe 30 cm on the Peninsule). Showers and wet snow in the south of the province with little to no accumulation. In NS, the Atlantic coast with be receiving substantial rain. Further north on the Northumberland shore and in Cape Breton, there will be onshore snow squalls. Fairly windy in places too.

Basically, if you don't like the weather where you are, just hop in the car and drive down the road 20 km and things will be different (not necessarily better).

The weather will be unsettled most of the week. In Moncton, daily hghs will range roughly from +2 to +6C.

+7 and sunny here today. High of +13 and sun tomorrow, +15 and sun on Wednesday. The "normal" high right now is +3 to +4.

Cold weather returns next week though with highs barely above freezing and a bit of snow.

Made it safely.

Landing at Deer Lake.

$205 1.5-hour taxi ride past Corner Brook...

And safely in Stephenville hours before lunch.

It's hurricane-force winds out here, definitely need to brace yourself when walking around. Very little snow compared to St. John's.

Another creek this morning but the highlight was the mini skating rink that formed on the baseball diamond from Saturday's rain and overnight cooling. Walking on it is very satisfying. Would have been even more so if I put spikes on.

Lost 1/2 of our snow already. maybe by Friday 80% f it will be gone.

Went for a least one more Fat bike ride yesterday, -4 when we started and 2 hours later it was +8 already.

And a week after standing on a roof at -18C I was back up in +4 at 8am.
