But here in Burquitlam we have been gaining dentists with every new build it seems.
I can relate. My dentist that I've been going to since I was a kid rolled back to one Saturday a month about a decade ago, then eliminated Saturdays entirely, then a few years later would only work two Fridays a month, and now only is open Monday to Thursday. Same number of clients, but now we all have to fight for a smaller pool of appointments. I mean, I don't blame them since they did it to spend time more time with their kids, but it makes making an appointment before you walk out absolutely necessary.

My favourite in Surrey Central is Sushi and Roll, but I am looking forward to trying this place out.

Sushi and Roll for the price and portions is pretty good imho. I typically order from there. I'll have to try Sushi Street as it is closer, see how they are.

Starbucks is now open at KGH. The location next to King George station remains open.

I've been back to the sushi spot a few times, and my partner and I are finding it very fresh and tasty. Easily one of my top 3 in the area now.

I've visited the new Starbucks and was quite impressed with it, their furniture is impressive walnut veneer (maybe solid) and looks great. Lots of room for line-ups.

I'm also a TD banker, and having one so close to where I live is going to be awesome. I hate having to go to the 104th/KGH one, it's always packed when times are convenient for me.

Does anyone know when Waffle House opens up? Dying for a mid priced brunch spot so close by (I'm tired of White Spot...)

Job well done.

Good to see the future road configuration plus how things will connect/fill in between the the Hub area and the medical office zone.

Also looks like that tower is purpose-built rental? 401 total units for at least 20 years. That's good. Also looks like there are plans to push Laurel Drive through to 97a and connect through the power line corridor there. That's also really good.

Wow, Surrey Central's downtown boundary is indeed expanding left and right. Soon King George neighbourhood will link up with the medical district.

Some renderings/site plans and pics in the article.

41-storey tower with 401 rental homes set for King George SkyTrain in Surrey
https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/1374...rental-housing

Quote:
PCI Developments has outlined plans to build a major 100% rental housing tower next to SkyTrain King George Station in Surrey City Centre.

While this is considered as part of the developer’s King George Hub, the development site will be physically separate from the main mixed-use, multi-tower complex currently under construction.

It will be located immediately to the south, just across the street, at 9759 137A Street, 9775 137A Street, and 13748 Fraser Highway — a 0.87 acre site at the southwest corner of the intersection of Fraser Highway and Whalley Boulevard, which will see a southward extension. The development site currently consists of a treed area and several single-family homes.

The redevelopment will entail a 390-ft-tall, 41-storey tower with 401 secured market rental homes, with a unit mix of four studio units, 240 one-bedroom units, 74 one-bedroom units with a den, 79 two-bedroom units, two two-bedroom units with a den, and two three-bedroom units.

A standalone common amenity building for residents is set along the south property line — adjacent to the future public park to the south.

The planned total floor area is 293,000 sq ft for a floor area ratio density of a floor area that is 7.9 times larger than the size of the lot. Three underground levels will contain 261 vehicle parking stalls and 481 secured bike parking spaces.

The architectural firm behind the design is Musson Cattell Mackey Partnership.

Major rental housing uses are suitable for the site given its location within Surrey City Centre’s Medical District, which is anchored by the nearby Surrey Memorial Hospital and the growing surrounding medical office campus. The University of British Columbia has also signalled that it intends to establish a sizeable campus in the area.

As well, King George Station serves as the starting point of the future 16-km-long, eight-station Surrey-Langley SkyTrain extension of the Expo Line. The extension is set to open in 2028.

The municipal government is currently in the process of reviewing PCI Developments’ application, which is expected to see approval.

I walked around the area yesterday:

- Subway seems to be nearing completion
- Jollibee has started construction inside
- Ruex has added a small patio
- Westland has opened a ground level office to serve the public
