I honestly would love to see some more brown and earth tones to echo the oldest modern skyscrapers extant in downtown Austin today. 100 and 111 Congress, One American, and even the Ashton are great examples. Something is needed at this point to give back some texture and keep Austin from being totally given over to Vancouverization. Interestingly enough, there's dialogue lately of getting away from glass facades finally, to both improve energy efficiency and stop killing birds, among other things.

This is what I like about the North Shore building - it has brick going all the way up and the glass isn't typical reflective blue - it's less reflective and comes off as more brownish/blackish.

I hope we start bringing brick and stone to our towers like the ones from the 80's - maybe minus the pink glass

They wouldn't necessarily have to do away with glass facades, they could just make the glass darker than the sky is or less reflective.

Great points all around

I'd be okay with the same color if the heights would differ (which I know they will). But yeah, my main mission here on out is lobbying for a traditionally designed brown/pink granite church top spire tower with clean lines that all travel together from bottom to top.

KXAN is removing their old analog antenna from their tv tower in West Austin. They're using a Sikorsky skycrane helicopter to do it. That's the same type of helicopter they used in 1986 to put the new statue atop the Capitol.

Oh, I'm just drooling over those before and after photos. I read the article, but I was most interested in those neat before and after. You can right click on each of them and open them in a new window which then allows you the option to save them.

I created another rendering, now that a new patch of constructions is well underway. Here is the view from Butler Park, with the renderings of Block 185 and 300 Colorado.
