Yeah, but I guess stopping at Reykjavik is a lot more pleasant and less stressful than transferring at CDG or Heathrow.

You're forgetting WOW Air (WW) to KEF as well. Interestingly enough, WW with their A321s will carry more seats to YUL than FI with their B752s.

Air China Cargo choosing Edmonton for its first scheduled freighter service between mainland China and Canada is a “game-changer” for the region’s economic development, says Mayor Don Iveson.

The carrier launched service between Shanghai, Dallas-Fort Worth and Edmonton on Sept. 3.

“The opportunity for Edmonton-metropolitan businesses and northern Canadian businesses to now route freight direct to mainland China and direct to Texas through Dallas-Fort Worth is going to shave a lot of time off things that are moving by truck today or moving through other Canadian airports,” Iveson said during welcome celebrations Friday.

Don't underestimate the impact. China is huge. We felt the benefits when Icelanders decided - hey, lets charter flights to St. John's for our Christmas shopping! And we REALLY felt the loss when their economy collapsed and they stopped. And that's an island with a few hundred thousand. A commercial connection like yours to China could be way more impactful than people might assume.

Ya imagine the impact all the connections Vancouver has with all the Chinese airlines flying in and out of YVR. They don't call it "The Pacific Century" for nothing.

Tunisair was rumoured to start YUL since 2006-2007, if my memory is correct. Syphax came and went. Loads were awful. Tunisair might fare better, that's if they ever start the damn route already!

Either way, These purely VFR routes don't bring any value to YUL. If Montreal wants to be a global player once again, it needs global destinations. We need service to places like PEK, NRT, HKG, PVG, a better network to the U.S. west coast - SEA and SAN come to mind, and also at least one or two South American destinations - BOG for example. (No, TS to Cartagena 1x weekly in the winter doesn't really cut it)

TUN, not so much.

Look at BOS and the influx of foreign carriers in the last few years. NRT, PEK, HKG, PVG, TLV, IST, DXB, PTY, MEX, etc. Talk about putting a city on the global map overnight!

Now granted YUL, with the addition of PEK, will have service to 4 of those in that list, but we need to continue and attract service to the others as well.

Yeah I know, but it's still cool to see more foreign carriers at YUL! Last news for Tunisair (from early April) were suggesting a route start in summer of 2016.

Sorry, man, you gotta turn in your Québécois man-card.
It's the equivalent of Slapshot (but better) in English Canada. Anyway, back to the topic at hand.

Looks like all the in-service dates for WS's 767 keep coming and going and still no sign of it in the skies. They should just stop announcing its start date 'cause they're looking a little more than unprepared.

All flights are to London (Gatwick) - Flights from Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Vancouver with the new ("pre-owned") 767. They are also operating to London from St. John's.

Sorry no WestJet 767 for Montreal.

WestJet gave up on YUL long ago... It's okay, it's Air Canada and Transat's win.
