I was reading last night that Miami is trying to allow developers to bypass the FAA as its a hassle for developers to get projects approved due to height. And this is coming from the city commission too. The only drawback is that they would need FAA approval for insurance. But, it might lead to some sort of agreement because lets be honest, the FAA has derailed many projects, especially ones of significant height. With this proposal though, developers would get approval just through the city committee (bypassing the FAA), but the whole issue is obtaining insurance for projects of significant height which requires FAA approval.

It probably looks a lot different from when you last saw it. The city is continually changing.

18-Story Condo Tower Proposed At Golden Sands

Quote:
An 18-story, 27-unit condo tower has been proposed behind the Lehman-tangled Golden Sands, just north of of Canyon Ranch in Miami Beach.
Miami Beach’s Historic Preservation Board had approved a plan in 2006 for a tower on the property located at 6901 Collins Avenue, but it was never built. The new plan would partially demolish the Golden Sands, as had been previously approved.

The developer is South Florida Condominium Management, Inc. The architect is Luis Revuelta, and the landscape architect is Lewis & Nielsen Design.

Jackson Health to invest $1.4B in capital improvements

Quote:
Jackson Health System is planning a $1.4 billion expansion and renovation for its facilities over the next 10 years.
The capital plan comes on top of an $830 million bond approved by voters in 2013. It would include over 200 projects at Jackson’s three campuses and in new locations throughout the county, according to the South Florida Business Journal.

“Our mission is to make sure we provide the best quality health care to every Miami-Dade resident whether they can afford it or not and we want to make sure we provide great facilities as well,” Jackson’s CEO Carlos Migoya said.

The project’s largest components include $117.4 million for a new rehabilitation hospital, a $115.7 million hospital for the Miami Transplant Institute in partnership with the University of Miami, $40 million for a pediatric ambulatory care center, and $40 million to build urgent care centers in multiple locations around the county.

No problem. I'm glad to share it. Miami has changed a lot since then, but you should try and visit again soon.

^ If you look at the first pic you can see the 3 story apartment complex on the site of what is now known as the "Miami Circle".

BBC Worldwide establishes Latin American HeadQuarters

NEW HEADQUARTERS:

BBC Worldwide, a subsidiary of the British Broadcasting Corp., last week celebrated the opening of its new Latin American headquarters in Coral Gables. The new facility at 255 Alhambra Circle will serve as the company’s hub for all Latin American and US Hispanic operations and initiatives. The site will have a staff of 50 “multi-media professionals” for channel distribution, content, formats, digital sales, licensing and merchandising, the company said. “The opening of this regional trading hub represents a natural extension of 80 years of presence in Latin America and enables us to continue to increase our footprint in the region,” said BBC Worldwide Executive Vice President and Managing Director Fred Medina. “We have big ambitions for Latin America and the new headquarters are our launch pad,” said BBC President Global Markets.
