Domain being involved is game changing because as we saw with South Market , they know how to get things financed and done.

The East could/should be thriving. It needs to be nurtured. Eastover has an incredible opportunity to reclaim its status -- and subsequently, grow, expand, and redevelop --as a high-end gated community, particularly for the city's Black middle class/professional class. I'm really rooting for this project. That being said, in my dissertation, I focus a lot more on the former Plaza site and I-10, which I argue is key to revitalizing the East. The East has been and continues to be the city's final frontier.
I would love to read this if you are willing to share!

Also, am I the only one having issues accessing the forums recently?

I could be wrong but I thought I had seen somewhere else that there was going to be public money devoted to rehabbing Eastover. I know that's not the way that article reads.

Plan to move to move New Orleans City Hall to Duncan Plaza clears planning commission

https://www.nola.com/news/politics/n...rce=dontmiss-1

New Orleans city officials have inched a bit closer to the long-awaited goal of relocating City Hall after the City Planning Commission recommended, in principal, a proposed land swap with the state that would allow a new seat of government to be built on Duncan Plaza.

The commission, which advises the City Council on issues related to zoning and whether building projects are acceptable under the planning rules, voted Tuesday to recommend that the council swap a portion of land the city owns on Poydras Street with a section of Duncan Plaza owned by the state.

Nice article on the National WWII Museum

After two decades, the National WWII Museum is done expanding. Here's what's next.

Initial notion of $1 million D-Day pavilion morphed into $420 million colossus

It looks like stained concrete to me. I'm assuming by blacktop y'all meant asphalt, but I don't think it's that.

Rampart Streetcar Line Construction
October 2023 Update:

The Rampart–St. Claude Streetcar line project has begun and is expected to be completed in early 2024.

The RTA contractor will start by repairing the damaged poles adjacent to the Hard Rock Hotel Site.
Crews will then work to restore the overhead wires starting at Elysian Fields and work towards Canal.
We will have some minor disruptions along the Canal Streetcar from Rampart to Elks Place toward the end of the project. But overall, there will be limited disruptions to service.
Riders will be notified of any service disruptions via norta.com and Le Pass app. Riders can also sign up for text alerts by texting RTAUpdates to 41411.
The Rampart–St. Claude Streetcar line’s infrastructure, including overhead power lines, was damaged during the 2019 Hard Rock Hotel collapse.
