I believe that open land will be used for future developments. I remember the rendering showing a bunch of high rises along Halsted.

Outstanding shots.

Wasn't originally a fan but this project but it will have a convention center type impact on the area with the hotel + events venue + riverwalk components.

And hopefully stimulate some more riverfront development nearby. Maybe another hotel even.

100%. I was driving north on 90/94 through the Loop and I was surprised by how imposing it looked from there. This is going to be a great addition to the skyline, and really help draw it further west.

I can't recall how many floors there will be for the hotel tower, but it looks like 1/3rd of it has been built so far. Can anyone clarify this?

The hotel is 34 stories tall; the core is currently at 24-25 floors total, so another 10 to go.

Probably one more crane jump left, then?

This seems like it would have been a good spot to build a highrise foundation that could support additional floors at a later time for apartment/condos on the upper floors. The way bluecross blueshield did with their offices, maybe when the next boom happens? Might need an another parking garage built but already has the restaurants and entertainment built in. Not to jump this page off subject but how many other chicago high-rises have the capability of doing this? Only one I can think of is the northwestern hospital lab building.

Thanks! Definitely has a strong presence in that part of the skyline. Hopefully the final execution of the hotel will come out well.

I won't lie- I actually like the concrete panel design.

It creates some really interesting angles and shadows to the building and does a great job of breaking up the massing. It's almost cliff-like or perhaps a bit like a giant iceberg.

I think it'll look sleek once they put the glass in.

I'm guessing this will be the final crane jump for this project.

Looks like a crane jump today, or late yesterday. I'm a few miles away, so can anyone confirm?

This is from a couple of days ago. From far away the tower blends into the skyline and other buildings, but once you get close it looks massive!
