Boston Pizza was mentioned to be going in Stonebridge - when the one in Lakewood opened - haven't heard that is dead, Earls was mentioned on the Government's major project inventory, Brown's social house is on a aggressive expansion - one open in Regina and a second to come in the Queen City, Saskatoon has long been mentioned for a Brown's - believe it is also mentioned on the major projects listing.

A sure sign Saskatoon is becoming more cosmopolitan is the addition of a shisha lounge, Lounge 306.

Second Sask. CFL team plausible

Saskatchewan’s major cities are still far too small for a National Hockey League (NHL) team.

But a second Canadian Football League (CFL) team situated in Saskatoon — and a scalable stadium — is worth investigating as the population grows, says the co-author of an extensive 12-part series from The Conference Board of Canada examining the country’s professional sports market.

“It would be way too early (for Saskatchewan) to start looking at the NHL,” said Mario Lefebvre, co-author of the series. “I think the first target would have to be CFL. I know when I go to Saskatchewan I keep on being told, ‘We have a team.’ That team is the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The last thing I want to do here is stir the pot. But I think there is definitely room for another team and room that will be growing as the economy continues to hum along.” [...]

Build from within and than start to expand out...ironically, there are a million and one reasons that why this makes outer growth plausible for Saskatoon. Talk of CFL/NHL teams (heh), light rail, infrastructure, hospitals and mass transit are all on the table right now that correctly suits a city going forward.

Concentrating on city infill and sustainability should be focused on, and than start expanding outwards with all the bells and whistles (sports teams and rail etc) There's no need to crowd the hell out of the city but increasing density within first, makes sense. The multicultural influx of people moving in, is showing how "cosmopolitan" Saskatoon is becoming.

260,000 is a great CMA population to start working with especially coming off a huge growth rate. My idea would be for every -000 people that move within the city, develop another new SDA on the outside simultaneously. You could call it somewhat of a strategical trade off, and it would still be win-win for the city while in the meantime increasing density/population using those numbers to the city's advantage.

So, for every one thousand people that move into infill developments, the city should start a new SDA that can hold anywhere from 5-10 thousand people. Isn't that a little lobsided?

-000 = anything up to 9,999 lol...but yes, 5-10K people within the city would be ideal and should at least warrant a few more developments on the outer limits rather than just sporadically developing endless suburbia just because there's land available. What would be real lopsided, would be more living on the city's fringe rather than within

Ya, I realized after I posted that you meant a few thousand rather then one. I agree development should be balanced between densification and expansion. Ideally I would like to see 70/30 to 60/40 ratio in terms of infill versus sprawl but... I'm not gonna hold my breath.

So Hudson's sent out a bunch of "coupons" for their dry run this Wednesday and Thursday to corporate operations in and around Saskatoon inviting them to this "preview" night. When they didn't get the response from the coupons they were looking for, they gave them out to their staff last weekend to distribute to friends and family. When I phoned this morning, Chad Murphy, the GM of the Saskatoon location said it was unfortunate, but that they were all booked up and couldn't take one more person!
It's so nice to get invited to a party, then when you call to confirm, they tell you that you're no longer invited. Classy move!!
