Not too sure if it's been mentioned or not but there's a notice up at the entrance to the Impark lot that is adjacent to the north side of the hostel requesting public comments on a DP application. The DP is apparently for a 2 building site with office, commercial and 137 units. Have we heard anything or seen any renders about what this project will be? I would imagine the hostel is staying but this lot is privately owned so it has never been included in the CMLC master plan info.

Anyone know what's going on with the ALT hotel site? I know the DP was approved in the late spring and I seem to recall someone mentioning that a BP was issued for it this fall however there has yet to be any activity on the site. Was a BP issued? Is this project one that might just be on hold while the Le Germain group assess what impact the economy will have on hotel vacancy rates? Looking forward to seeing this one move ahead and seeing the first complete block of redevelopment in the East Village (First and the ALT Hotel) finish.

Awesome new video! I still want to know what that bubble by the Drop In Centre will be. It would be awesome if we actually got something like that but I'm skeptical.

No definite plans yet for that site.

Not sure its been mentioned on here, but the XYC development (when it happens) is proposed as 'restaurant' space on the main floor, floors 2 and 3 will be office, and the 4th floor will be one residential unit.

That is fabulous news. Is it just me though, or does The Hat look way taller in the video than the proposal we've seen? By comparison to the Verve (83 meters), The Hat looks to be 95 - 100 meters tall! Interesting. 100 meters for a 28 storey rental tower is huge, but it will have the large rooftop feature and I believe the first floor will be double height for the daycare and retail. Could be true, if so, very cool!

BTW, Merle Norman is the first new commercial tenant to be announced. They will be going into First along 6th Avenue.

We will start to see the commercial space slowly populate now that residents have moved in. Though from the ones I know that are coming, none are overly exciting (to me), but are of course a necessity in any truly mixed-use neighbourhood.

Did you look closely at the video though? If you do, you'll see that the renders shown definitely show a difference greater than 5.5 meters between the two.

They don't clarify that in the website, but judging by the renders there is space for either 1 or 2 small CRUs in the podium. I would say it's definitely not townhomes though.
