NYC keeps on being amazing. That's a great design, hope it gets built. I do wonder what the western face will look like though. Will we finally see a building with artwork on a firewall?

Also: I notice it's only 70 floors tall. So I looked at the diagram for NYC ranked by floor count. Woah. jagged skyline!

Future Penn Plaza. By my count, NYC is now flirting with a supertall count in the forties.

Looks meh. And by my count it's just 50 floors. 50 floors, 1400 feet. Imo far less impressive than older ones with 80+ floors.

But still, I kinda like it. Would stand out as a very different design.

I'm not a fan of these towers that jump on the cool eco friendly open design. I think eco freindly should be important in towers, but this just looks tacky. It can be done so much more tastefully. This looks less like an architecturally appealing skyscraper and more like a science fair project. I think these types of buildings will age very badly.

I hope it goes through a redesign. Not to sound like a NIMBY, but I think given the presence on the skyline, for pure aethetic purposes, I think it'll stain it in its current form. I don't care if they build a 2000 ft, monolithic tower, but the design should at least have some aesthetic value to that section of the skyline. And its right next to the ESB.

NYC's skyline, how it has developed with respect to Midtown West, Midtown South... is beautiful. Hudson Yards has incorporated seamlessly into the urban fabric. But this, I just don't know. For the location, it really seems ridiculous.

The original design was quite decent. Even though it looked like San Francisco's Salesforce tower on steroids, at least it appeared, via the renderings, to add to the aesthetics, not tarnish it.

I mean if it rises as is, I guess we'll live with it... might even grow to love it in time, but for now... eh... not feeling it.

Per Emporis as of today. Note that we are approaching 1000 skyscrapers.

Also add high-rises + skyscrapers to get a count over 7000+ as they are differentiated based on height. I believe skyscraper over 300 + per thier definition. Either 300/400 ft, but I'm inclined to believe they classify it over 300 ft.

Current U/C list as per CTBUH. Note that the Emporis list includes high rises as well or structures 8-12 floors depending on height.

330 Madison Avenue Will Sell Within the Next Year: Sources
Could be a “new One Vanderbilt”

BY MACK BURKE
JUNE 11, 2019

Quote:
Vornado Realty Trust announced yesterday that it will sell its 25 percent minority stake in the massive Midtown office tower, which is valued at around $900 million, and Bloomberg confirmed today that ADIA, which holds a 75 percent interest in the asset, has agreed to buy out the firm through one of its subsidiaries.

Vornado said in its press release yesterday that it expects the sale to close in the third quarter. A spokeswoman for Vornado did not provide a comment on the transaction.

But, ADIA won’t be sitting on its laurels. A source close to the property told CO that the investment giant—the world’s third largest sovereign wealth fund—“will sell the building within the next year.”
Quote:
“ADIA wanted full control of the building,” Stacom explained. “We anticipate a positive reception, and being able to offer it fee-simple [will] be catnip to the investment community.

“It is one of the few 30 FAR Midtown East rezoning sites,” she added. “It’s nice to know that sometime in the future, if you wanted to create a new One Vanderbilt, you could.”

Built in 1965, the 40-story property between East 42nd and East 43rd Streets sits just a block from Grand Central Terminal and SL Green Realty’s One Vanderbilt.

Quote:
The 846,000-square-foot 330 Madison underwent a 121 million renovation and repositioning in 2014, according to a rating agency report on the MAD 2017-330M single-asset CMBS deal in which it was securitized. After the renovation, Vornado—in a joint venture with ADIA subsidiary Chadison—was able to execute over 600,000 square feet of new and renewal leases, according to a presale report from DBRS.

Nice. So the corner of 42nd/Madison will likely eventually have two large footprint supertall office towers.
