So BC Government is giving YVR some money to focus on clear technology in aviation and multi-modal transportation between the airport and Vancouver Island.

To kick off this partnership with YVR, the Province is investing in three key projects that will support the broader aviation industry:

- $250,000 for a sustainable aviation fuel opportunities study to accelerate the development of sustainable aviation fuels and clean technologies (Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation);

- $375,000 to support the creation of a net-zero airports action plan to outline actions for carbon-reduction measures across the B.C. airport network in line with CleanBC objectives (Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure); and

- $250,000 for a study to explore opportunities to enhance the movement of people and goods between YVR, Vancouver Island and beyond, to facilitate multi-modal access to new markets and increase the resiliency of supply chains (Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure

The last one is the most interesting. A marine link (other than BC Ferries) between YVR and the island is very interesting.

Marine links to/from airports are so common in Japan, it wasn't immediately evident to me it would ever be considered in BC so this is exciting!

3. Multi-modal Goods Movement:

· The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure will invest $250,000 to explore opportunities to enhance people and goods movement between Vancouver Island, YVR and beyond.

· YVR will conduct a pre-feasibility study to investigate multi-modal air and marine connections between the regions, capitalizing on the population growth and economic potential of Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island, thereby improving access to global markets while exploring the potential of new and emerging transportation technologies.

· The work will assist in positioning YVR as a key hub within a multi-modal goods movement system to enhance resilience and create new economic development opportunities for B.C. communities.

AC to SIN

Air Canada during the week of 18MAR24's schedule update filed expanded service on Vancouver – Singapore route during Northern winter 2024/25 season, ahead of the carrier's service launch later today (02APR24)

The Star Alliance carrier from 04DEC24 will introduce 5th weekly flight, on board Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

AC020 SIN1000 – 0830YVR 789 x13

LH to FRA

Frankfurt – Vancouver eff 01OCT24 Reduce from 7 to 6 weekly. 747-400 service maintained, instead of previously planned 787-9

TK to IST

Istanbul – Vancouver eff 31MAR24 3 weekly 777-300ER service maintained, instead of previously filed A350-900XWB (777-300ER scheduled from 16JAN24)

Oh well, you win some you lose some. It appears that Air Canada Express still runs that route. Just hope they can make it pay. (Insufficient $ yield is about the only reason for AS quitting it, or am I wrong?)

To me it seems like an issue more on the PDX rather than the YVR side, they're still a relatively smaller market.

The few times I have been a passenger on it there looks to be a good number of AC passengers connecting overseas once they get to Vancouver.

Leaves from a weird gate area on the PDX side. You head downstairs into a little wait area that just handles AC and WS flights. Only two airlines that don't use bridges in PDX.

Isn’t AS just adjusting PDX to summer seasonal? There doesn’t seem to be any indication it is axed for good.

Anyway AS will be 7 daily this summer including the return of mainline 737s to SEA all other flights on E75s (including the daily PDX).
AC maintaining 4 daily to PDX this summer

Another big summer coming up for YVR Transborder US carriers showing some pretty big schedules. Increased Sky Country to MSP (DL will be two daily 739s to MSP as well) the return of Jet Blue to BOS and the inaugural daily AA to CLT all coming up.
Speaking of 739s UA is even upgauging one of the daily LAX flights to a 739 MAX

And this year is expected to be another record year for Vancouver’s cruise ship season after last year’s record.

I’ll be one of those 1.27 million this year!

Triple O's and White Spot are opening/returning to YVR,Triple O's will be in the B gates, White spot in pre-security in domestic, looks like the same spot it used to be in?

I wonder if the Carl's Jr closed that was in the B gates section, does anyone know? they've closed all but two of the locations of Carl's Jr in BC.

The article says it closed in August 2021.

That should explain why it closed.

I could have sworn i bought something from Carls Jr back in december in the YVR domestic terminal. Flew porter for the first time too to Ottawa....Great fllght. I recommend Porter to all my American buddies flying up to Canada.

BTW we just opened up our first Carls Jr in Miami. First one on the east coast.

There are many Carl's Jr on the east coast. They're called Hardee's.
