Wow. I genuinely thought this was a proposal for Montreal. Beautiful, if it happens and isnt value engineered.

Thanks for the post, one note, this is adjacent to Gilmore Station, not Lougheed Town Centre.

It’s a really big step up in design for Burnaby, especially for the Brentwood area / skyline.

Loving this trend away from glass clad towers.

Here is a nice looking lowrise proposal for South Hill by Menkes 77 Claredon Avenue. The only problem though is they are tearing down a 5 storey apartment building for a 5 storey luxury condo. The city shouldn't be allowing these situations to continue.

There area lot of Rec centres being built or upgraded. Kelowna's new upgraded centre should be quite good looking. somewhere in the budget of $280,000.00. Not bad for a small city.

I'd be thrilled with that Burnaby proposal in my city. It's a beauty.

Love this, and it's certainly a breath of fresh air for Brentwood's otherwise monotonous blue-glass landscape.

That entrance is mosque-like:

I'm not a big fan of the Gilmore development style or that density level there but it's an improvement over the average glass towers and definitely below average ones like the ugly Brentwood mall towers. The Concord development a bit east of Brentwoods looks okay but is very suburban in character.

There has been subsidence around Gilmore and some of these towers have very deep parkades. There is little "depth" around Gilmore; you walk a block this or that way and you're in light industrial areas. Maybe that will all be redeveloped eventually, but I think it would be better just to build more modest stuff in East Van. The new zoning rules in BC move things in that more reasonable direction.

The renderings are a bit funny in that they look like these vibrant downtown-like areas but in reality these places end up with dentists' offices and sushi restaurants in the podiums. Maybe that'll change eventually, maybe not. They're basically residential in character and while they have very high densities on some plots the overall population is small compared to the number of people who go to regional hubs like downtown or even Metrotown.

Ugh. Corktown is becoming blandtown with all these block sized proposals. What an oppressive podium filled with hundreds of undesirable closets.

I don't get dense skyscraper clusters in Burnaby but, that twin combo is pretty nice. Two tall towers in close proximity to each other in a suburban city centre. Does it really need a hulking connective podium?

The large, connected podium is 10 storeys of office space.

It seems like Brentwood wants to be an office district without building office buildings. Office space is always included in these mixed-use projects.

Actually the 10 storey podium is a 280 bed hotel.

Ah ok. I assumed the commercial space was office. More hotel rooms are always a plus.

Much more viable in the current economy too.

Kennedy Co-Ops in Scarborough, designed by Henriquez for CreateTO. Two of the towers are to be co-op rentals, and the other market-rate condos: https://urbantoronto.ca/news/2024/01...-station.55013
