Haven't seen this discussed yet: Apple has reportedly leased 60,000 square feet at 400 West Georgia.

Here's the ground floor and 2nd floor plans.
Note the staircase to the second level on the Georgia side.
Could mean potential for a larger retail store, but the 2nd floor space is also awkward.
If Apple even has a store here, it would be better off in the restaurant space and the 2nd floor area above that.

Daily Hive mentioned that Apple is rumoured to be looking at the Pacific Centre rotunda replacement building.

And there it is. This is the tenant I was hinting at a few weeks ago.

This is a great get for Vancouver. Apple dipping their toes in the water could be a great growth company for the city for years to come.

They are already in Vancouver as well. I'm not sure what the poster is alluding to.

Is it going to be RnD office space that Apple is leasing? Cool if so, but if it's just another Apple store, then boring.

They bought Buddybuild so maybe they'll move into the space as well?

Apple already has a development office in Yaletown. My neighbour works there.

Yes, less than five months between these pics. And maybe we'll see a crane soon.

Apple has a small presence on account of them buying Buddybuild yes, this however will be a 400+ person Apple office, dwarfing the 40 or so employees they bought into at Buddybuild.

Interesting to see what Jlousa is hinting at with Apple's more immediate space. There's not a ton of large block available so they might be jumping into a coworking space like Amazon has done.

I can't seem to find any development permit application for this one, or any design panel minutes for a DP.
Anyone know where those are?
I went looking for more drawings of how the detailed design was going to resolve some of the interesting conditions, but nada.

The only drawings online are probably the rezoning plans that officedweller linked to up the page. The project wouldn't go to DP Board if it was substantially the same as the rezoning; particularly if the rezoning already showed a detailed design (which isn't always the case). The Director of Planning would have issued the DP. The rezoning went to the Urban Design Panel in September 2017, when it was supported with recommendations. A revised application was submitted in October, and it was approved by Council in February 2018. As a DP it went back to the UDP very soon after, in April 2018. It was again supported with recommendations. Unless someone attended and posted the details here, you won't find that material online.

The fact that they're already setting up the crane base at the bottom of the hole shows how much faster the City has become at processing and approving some permits (and how fast this building is being built).

Thanks for that. It was the April UDP minutes I couldn't track down.
Will have to wait for it to finish to see how it all comes together I guess!

And you also cannot underestimate how adept Westbank is at gaming the system to expedite its requirements. Every other developer and architect I know just shakes their head, along with an experience or ten to share about the situation.
