"Murals" have such a negative connotation here generally... because for ages they were often terribly depictions of historic events and people... not simply "art."

The "street art" trend is big everywhere else and I'm so glad to see it finally happening here - keep it coming.

On another note - I don't understand why after spending all that money on new streetscaping, signage, and design in WB BIZ, how sooooo many lights on Broadway/Sherb are burnt out, broken, or completely missing. What's going on here? Is this hydro's responsibility to fix them or the city/BIZ's? Don't understand how they can be in such poor condition after all the work in the area... it's embarrassing.

That's a good question for the AGM.

Sotioros (sp?) project should be starting soon then. Good to see this finally happening.

Are you going? If so - recommend another space for the community garden nearby, off the main street, and sell that land.

Another question - does anyone know why the former McNaught dealership has never even had a for sale/lease sign up since it closed (5 years ago)? Is it owned by McNaught still and they're sitting on the property in hopes to make a comeback one day?!

Yes, I will be there.

The site of the community garden has been discussed a number of times, believe me...
Also under discussion has been a skate park for the neighbourhood.

When I first started going to the AGM about a dozen years ago, we could all easily fit in the dining room of the Melting Pot restaurant but the past few years we have been taking over a large chunk of Charisma. It's gratifying to see how things have grown. I feel that the people of the Biz are genuinely motivated to see the area continue to improve, they welcome suggestions from business owners and are very nice people.

Good to hear. Where have potential skatepark locations been?

^There's some construction currently happening at the West Broadway Community Centre (south of Broadway at Young). It looked to me like this could be a skate park? Or maybe just a splash pad?

Apologies, I can't recall which sites were discussed.

I will be sure to make note at the meeting. Usually takes place the 2nd or 3rd week of November.

Yep, this weekend it looked like they are or are about to drive piles on the site. Glad this is getting underway, and it's going to be a huge improvement on what's a depressing block of Sherbrook.

It's smaller than what they were planning a couple of years ago: it's going to be only six floors now. 71 residential units, 4 CRUS, underground parking.

The 4 CRUs is awesome. Maybe one day it'll inspire the owners of the sea of parking across the street to redevelop...

Was hearing some interest in building something 5-6 storeys and residential on this site. Not sure if that's going anywhere still, but it's encouraging that more and more developers are taking a serious look at Sherbrook and Maryland.

Lots of great things happening in WB, nice that things are starting to migrate north now too. Urban Glo is well under way and lots of older blocks/houses are being renovated.

I drive by their daily and always stunned as well. They even wash the widows and keep them clean fairly frequent. Fairly recent they took down the signage. Great place to do a demo and build an adjacent Lions Manner, a twin tower to the one next door.

A friend was raving about this new restaurant. It certainly give north section of West Broadway a much needed boost:
