Accurate statement.

I have a bus trip to Montreal story from here.

The day that a new project gets approved here I will unleash it on all you derelicts.

Maybe not 60 storeys, but I would be expecting a multi tower site above the allotted 25ish storey zoning.

I was just lightly kidding but if Brigil wanted to bring a project of scale similar to Place Des Peuples here, I'd be all for it. It's far from view restrictions and they can have their "world class" project. Maybe not 60, but I'd definitely enjoy between 45 to 55 with another two towers with variation in heights (35 and 25).

I agree. Would love to see maybe a 35 and 45. Maybe stay under 50. Anything to increase the height in this area, which is ripe for a near complete rebuild between the Queensway and Arlington, west of Bank. East of Bank, closer to the Museum of Nature, we may expect more sensitivity to height.

We tend to agree a lot J.OT13 haha (that is a good thing ). But yeah, this area has huge potential and would love to see some height coming out of here with great frontage and various mixed-use that is 3-4 floors and kind of a mini indoor/outdoor complex. A public gym on the ground floor (aka a Goodlife or Movati or something along those lines), and some retail would inject a nice little hub in this location.

Would be nice.

For sure. I see a podium resembling the Lansdowne Park retail blocks. Fit all of the essentials in there. Other than Shoppers 350 meters away on Gladstone, that area is severally lacking the daily shopping needs.

Saw a preliminary plan/massing for this site recently. It included multiple towers with heights as tall as 50 storeys. Not sure what we'll see in the end but I expect that the final proposal will include one or more towers with significant height (50 storey range). That's a guess based on what I've seen but I'm not 100% sure.

Where did you see this? I drive by that site regularly and can't wait to see the plans.

Source? But that would be very interesting, would look huge driving down the 417 on that downtown section. And, if it's not a part of the view plane restrictions, more reason for it to be potentially approved?

And I wonder at that height was kind of views one would have. Would they eb able to see Parliament Hill?

I think bartlebooth is benefitting from inside information. Hoping we see something in the coming weeks.

At 50 floors, I don't think you could see Parliament from that location. Maybe the very top of the Peace Tower roof and flag poll.

This might be Brigil's finally following through with his threat to build Place des Peuples in Ottawa .

Of note, I think that this is definitely the place to try 50 floors in Centretown. Taking up an entire block, nearly on the Queensway, far enough from the Museum and notable heritage areas and main streets.

You can already almost see the top of the Peace Tower from the 417 so I bet it will be VERY visible from 500 feet up!

Application is on DevApp. Documents not yet available

https://devapps.ottawa.ca/en/applica...3-0067/details

The proposed development consists of three residential towers of 26,40, and 36 storeys, townhouses, a six-storey residential building and a dedicated parkland at the north-east corner of Arlington Ave. The project includes retail, arts, a market and restaurant space on the ground floor the towers, as well as public outdoor pathways traversing the entire site.

I was excited at the thought of 50, but 40 could do... looking forward to seeing the renders.

Outside of Icon we don't have any other towers in the 40+ floor range and only the following approved or proposed;
-Trinity Bayview 1 65fl
-Trinity Bayview 2 56fl
-Sky Tower 1 55fl
-Sky Tower 2 45fl
-829 Carling Ave 40fl
-265 Centrum 40fl
-1640 Carling Ave 40fl
-70-80 Woodbridge 40fl
-1047 Richmond Rd 40fl

Wonder which is the most realistic to be built next...

Not the 60 story towers we fantasized about, but hey that is some very nice height variation and could be just the catalyst Centretown needs to recenter Ottawa's core skyline away from the restricted view planes!

I CAN NOT WAIT to hear the Glebe NIMBY/BANANA response to this. 'THE GLEBE IS BECOMING THE MEAT IN A SKYSCRAPER SANDWICH BETWEEN LANSDOWNE AND THIS MONSTROSITY' will surely be the overarching theme.
