Heard those AC/DC tickets sold out in about 4 minutes.

For those of you looking for an excuse to wear neon...

Actually, I decided not to buy when I saw they had seated floor. What is the concert world coming to when Neil Young has standing floor and AC/DC doesn't?

Oh, I did get tickets to The Australian Pink Floyd Show. Performing The Wall with a "greatest hits" encore, it's pretty much the next best thing to seeing Gilmour or Waters live.

You can hear some great audio of their band at their website:

I think Roger Waters' show last year was definitely my all-time favourite. Perfect sound, beautiful lighting and video, and incredible performance. Very hard to beat (unless Zeppelin comes to town next year ... ).

Me as well but I'm sure tickets will be pricey.

I'd rather see Buddy Guy than Bob Dylan really, especially considering the prices and the venue.

yea id say so as well, also considering dylan has sorta lost his voice these days it seems. buddy guy would be an amazing show, and commadore is probably the best venue for a show like that. wish i had some more money to spend. might try and buy last min craigslist tix that ppl are getting rid of cus they cant go. sometimes u get good clearance prices that way.

Talking Here we go again ...

Led Zeppelin: The Balloon Inflates
Posted By: Neil McCormick at Sep 26, 2008 at 12:14:18

The latest on Led Zeppelin is that the great rock dirigible will float again.

One more round of ooh babys: Robert Plant

According to news reports (actually scurrilous rumour and music business gossip) the threat of being replaced by a mystery American singer brought about a change of heart in Robert Plant. Faced with the prospect of his band mates touring without him (as reported in a previous audiofile Blog), Plant has agreed to their demands to return for one more round of "ooh babys".

So blackmail works, then. If Led Zeppelin were an elected body, there would be questions asked in the house about caving into threats. But they're not, so we can dust off our denim jackets with hand written graffiti and prepare for the return of the golden gods.

The sexagenarian Led Zep mark II (Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and spring chicken Jason Bonham, son of Bonzo) apparently tour next summer. Plant's band mates were quoted by unidentified sources as being "over the moon", which suggests that during their years off the road they have all spent too much time watching football.

But what we really want to know is who was the unidentified American singer that found himself used as leverage in the Led Zep communication breakdown? Presumably he is a charismatic frontman with a powerful vocal range but poor enough to be a hired hand at rehearsals and obscure enough to be used as a pawn in this game. All suggestions gratefully received.

"Charismatic frontman"? "Powerful vocal range"? I don't think so.

Before this came out, there were ruours saying that Page, Jones and Bonham would tour with Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge:

He's pretty good, but there can only be one Robert Plant!

Damn!

Robert Plant – Official Statement
29th September 2008
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss are currently touring the USA on the last leg of their 'Raising Sand' tour. They played a benefit concert in Oklahoma City for victims of Hurricane Ike last Friday; Austin,Texas last Saturday and tomorrow they play Portland, Oregon before finishing the tour in Saratoga, California on October 5th.

After those dates, Robert has no intention whatsoever of touring with anyone for at least the next two years. Contrary to a spate of recent reports, Robert Plant will not be touring or recording with Led Zeppelin. Anyone buying tickets online to any such event will be buying bogus tickets.

“It‘s both frustrating and ridiculous for this story to continue to
rear its head when all the musicians that surround the story are keen to get on with their individual projects and move forward,” Robert Plant said.

“I wish Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham nothing but success with any future projects,” he added.

Vancouver will host Chinese superstars in a variety show to be seen worldwide on TV

Randy Shore, Vancouver Sun
Published: Friday, October 03, 2008

The musical variety show Our Chinese Heart comes to Vancouver Nov. 1 and will be taped for broadcast by Chinese state television to more than one billion Chinese viewers worldwide.

The show is the "biggest Sino-event" ever in North America, according to Paul Pang, one of a group of local business people helping to organize it.

"These are all superstars," Pang said. "This is the biggest show of its kind ever hosted outside China."

Beijing even sent All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese official Chen Mai to check out the city and GM Place to ensure it would be suitable for the concert and broadcast. He was escorted on his five-day visit by local show co-chairs David Yue and Teng Ta.

Our Chinese Heart will feature 10 of Asia's most popular pop singers and actors, including Ken Zhu Xiao Tian of the boy band F4, Mongolian singer-actor Alf, Chen Kun, Xu Hui Xin, and the star of the closing ceremonies of the Beijing Olympic Games, Kelly Chen Hui Ling, according to organizer Helen Qian.

Chinese Olympic gold medallists Wenna He (trampoline) and Man Zhong (sabre) will also appear in the show.

The show features a wide range of performing arts from Chinese folk songs, dance, opera and popular music. Most of the performers come from Hong Kong, China and Taiwan.

Our Chinese Heart has become one of China Central Television International's most successful programs since it first aired in January 2004. Recent stops on the tour include Auckland, New Zealand and Sydney, Australia.

Seats for the Vancouver event are priced from $38. For tickets call 1-888-882-2588.

Proceeds from the show will be donated to the Sichuan Earthquake Relief Fund and local charities, Qian said.
