Maybe those rooms are bathrooms with "frosted glass"? Would those spandrels allow light to enter the rooms behind?

BTW - is that a sky garden? Looks a bit odd with the thick rectangular column sitting above a smaller round column.

My prediction is that the spandrels would end there, with vision glass on the floors above that as there is a change in floor plate. But that's just a hopeful prediction..

Forgive me if I am going against the grain, but I really like the look of this tower with the Emerald Green and Dark Stone look.

Yeah, I think that HG3 is kickin' as well.

I'd like to add my voice to that. The green glass in 3HG looks as if it were meant to be deep emerald, not just cheap glass with insipid turquoise tint like most others. And, yes, the dark stone sets it very well. This one is green - but with a difference. It's true Emerald green, and classy.

Put me down as a fan of HG3.

I love the deep green glass with the dark granite, it really looks sharp.

Look how monochromatic Fairmont, Shaw and HG2 are, compared to HG3, wow:

I'm not really liking the bulkiness of this angle, and wish there was more stone on the northwest facade, but at this point it's really hard to complain. No other residential tower in the country compares to the quality of the finishes here. Especially not the Georgia... Vancouver_highrise, what are you smoking lol??

lots and lots of weed, jk. I don't know what it is about the building... I was walking around there the other day and just thought, aesthetically it didn't look that great. I probably would not be saying that if I lived in the building though!

Small photo update | February 25th 2011

Harbour Green Three is coming along. It's topped out, if I'm not mistaken.

Taken by SFUVancouver, February 25th, 2011.

Great shot SFU. I think this will be my favorite angle for sure. The summer sunsets glinting majestically off of 3HG.....damn! I'm gettin' all misty-eyed here. lol

shame that its topped out at standard vancouver 30 floor height. such a good location wasted. i love the look of it but jeez they couldve made it at least 10 more floors (a cliche of a statement on this site lol)

I think the height of this building is fine, maybe more noticeably taller than 2HG would have been nice, but I wouldn't want a supertall at the waterfront (ruins the scale) plus theres a park adjacent to the north so there's shadowing issues.

Yes, it would have been nice. Therefore, the height is not fine. It's too short. This building, like almost every other building in Vancouver, has had its development prematurely arrested 5-10 floors short of its most natural height, not by the laws of economics or the laws of physics, but by the coercive interference of paternalistic politicians and city bureaucrats.

Having to choose between an oversized supertall and a building that is 5-10 stories too short is a false dichotomy. The obvious alternative is to add 5-10 stories, creating a building that is neither too tall nor too short, but just right. The proper approach is to stop imposing arbitrary growth-stunting restrictions and simply allow buildings the freedom to achieve their most natural and beautiful architectural expression, both in form and in function.

lol, I'll add to the chorus that it should have been taller than HG2, but overall I think it's going to have enough unique features to help it stand out against the monotony of the rest of the waterfront. It doesn't need the height, and it will be fine the way it is.
