Nice pics! The Seaport reminds me of Harbor East in Baltimore.

Quite impressive! I remember going to the seafood restaurants at the end of the docks 20 years ago, the area was a sea of parking lots, except around the Children's museum. What a change...

Thanks for posting this!

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. It's definitely an interesting (and very un-Boston-y) area to walk around. Someone mentioned that the Seaport looks a lot like The Wharf in DC, which definitely struck me as well. The biggest difference is I believe The Wharf is a single master planned development. The Seaport has some areas built as part of single larger development (Fan Pier, Pier One), but many of the parcels have been developed by different entities. As a result, The Seaport has a less finished look but it avoids some of the kitschy things (like a Smores Station) you find in larger single development.

Keep in mind that the Wharf in DC is but one section of the SW Waterfront area being revitalized which includes the Navy Yard and Buzzards Point. I think its a very apt comparison and it would be interesting to analyze how the Seaport and the SW Waterfront in DC are similar and different (pros/cons of each approach).

I, too, was last there when the ICA opened and I am happy to see the public spaces have been built with high quality.
