As a result, The Seaport has a less finished look but it avoids some of the kitschy things (like a Smores Station) you find in larger single development.

Keep in mind that the Wharf in DC is but one section of the SW Waterfront area being revitalized which includes the Navy Yard and Buzzards Point. I think its a very apt comparison and it would be interesting to analyze how the Seaport and the SW Waterfront in DC are similar and different (pros/cons of each approach).
