Taos Ski Valley discusses master development plan

Taos Ski Valley and members of the public met virtually Tuesday (May 4) to discuss the future of the resort and the area's Master Development Plan (MDP). Over 100 people tuned in to see what TSV has in store for the next decade, which turned out to be quite a lot.

More than half of Santa Fe’s midtown campus buildings eyed for demolition

More than half of the buildings on the midtown campus are being eyed for demolition, according to a presentation given to the Santa Fe City Council on Wednesday.

Sam Burnett, midtown property maintenance manager, told the council that 16 of the 23 buildings either have limited or no potential for reuse as the city discusses preliminary redevelopment plans for the 64-acre property.

“I’ve got to figure out how to recruit the number of staff to execute that mission growth. We have to find housing. We have to create spaces for them. We have to deal with transportation challenges both on the hill as well as people that have to commute from Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Rio Arriba County and elsewhere,” he said.

Esencia development proposes 580 homes west of Rancho Viejo

Price Land Development in Albuquerque now intends to build some 800 homes near N.M. 14, N.M. 599 and Interstate 25.

The company staged a pre-application neighborhood Zoom meeting Thursday for its proposed 580-home Esencia development. The project’s conceptual plan will be submitted June 11 to Santa Fe County, Price Land Development President Garret Price said.

State Employees Credit Union will start construction on new headquarters

Now the pieces are in place for construction to start on a three-story, 29,000-square-foot headquarters directly behind the branch/main office building at St. Michael’s Drive and Calle Lorca.

Glamping in the desert?

A special-use for the Desert Flower Camping Resort project that would cover nearly five acres of a 10-acre tract was recently approved on a 3-2 vote by the Taos County Planning Commission, although detractors had vowed to take the issue to the Taos County Commission.

Santa Fe getting 5,000 new dwellings, but is it enough?

According to the city Land Use Department, 5,000 housing units are in the development pipeline, with 760 completed since 2017 and over 2,200 under construction. On average, the department is issuing about 500 construction permits — slightly below pre-pandemic numbers — and 2,000 construction inspections per month.

Federal funds sought to help renovate former Taos County Courthouse

The current building, constructed in 1932 on the same site as the second courthouse, was designed by Albuquerque architect Louis Hesselden.

It was constructed using adobe bricks, and combined aspects of Spanish Colonial, Pueblo and Mission styles of architecture, a reflection of the unique mix of Northern New Mexican communitie
