The Westerra plan shows 17 buildings south of the gas station, and there are 15 permits so they are probably going to blitz that site like all the others.

As of November 15th all the foundation footings were in place by Costco in the east, the foundation walls on the remaining 4 buildings are probably done by now.

There were 2 earlier permits last week and in Oct. So it looks like they are all in.

Interesting that the 12 unit build on 12th and Toronto does not appear to have any underground parking. There are windows in the basement. The building nearly covers the entire lot. Is this the first new build with no parking under the new zoning bylaw that eliminated parking minimums?

It will be interesting to see how this works out. Just like the 1920s, except almost everyone has a car now.

Added some drone shots of the Westerra Avana site to this gallery. https://imgur.com/a/VbSQInW

7 foundations in various states. 1 excavated, 1 excavated with piles, 3 with footings, 1 with foundation walls, and 1 with foundation wall forms.

This big, old City-owned warehouse on Arcola has just been demolished. I am unsure if the City has any plans for this area beyond widening of Arcola.

Do not discount having a cold winter on the Prairies (even though it seems that the freeze thaw roller coaster is more common now). Here in Ottawa its been bouncing between -8 to +5 for the past month and it bloody well sucks! I absolutely hate the slush, tons of salt they spread around here, and the lack of outdoor skating rinks.

Much rather have the -10 highs and -20 overnight lows than the crap we put up with here at Ottawa.

And Toronto can just f*** off with their "we are winter hardy" talk. Toronto doesn't and never really have had winters, just slush and grey skies.

Old nursing college at 4th & Lewvan demolished since the last time I was by there. I'll try getting out to the GTH tomorrow Friday, the fat bike is so slow but it isn't too far out.

FYI doing a search I found a way to display a thumbnail and link to a full size image. In the image tag add a lowercase L (l) just before the period/extension.
HTML Code:

It was not a good day for a bike ride, windy, slushy and foggy. Got a few drone shots at Westerra and the GTH. At least I can mostly operate my phone touch screen with gloves on. I did get a message in the drone app about my phone's CPU being maxed out, might have been because the phone battery was cold and the CPU went into a low power mode. The tear shaped turnaround at the west end of the GTH makes more sense viewed from the air. It connects to the Cargill bridge and also to a road that goes to SaskPower's yard on the south end of the site.

For doing the image thumbnail thing I mentioned last post you don't actually have to manually enter the code, just use the insert hyperlink button first, the link text will automatically be selected, then you can click the insert image button while the text is still highlighted, paste in your link and add the "l" before the period and the text will be replaced with image code.

Apologies if I missed it. There is development (finally) on College Ave / Halifax St area. Does anyone know what that is? I am assuming a multi home unit, maybe rentals? I couldn't find anything on that online though.

If you are referring to 1510 College (at St. John), it is a 27 unit apartment building.
