Looks like a spinoff of AusBizJnl.

It is a Ritz-Carlton according to the developer:

Quote:
Morris told the Post Monday the team is planning to break ground in the first quarter of 2022, with a mid-2025 completion being eyed. M2 is currently in discussions with potential debt and equity partners for both its Nashville and Austin Ritz-Carlton projects.

Well...I actually don't necessarily think the author, William Williams, was quoting M2. Instead, I read it as the author inferring (assuming) that the Austin project was also a Ritz. Who knows. But, an official word has not been given, to my knowledge, with regard to their Austin project.

I like how they used 80 Red River for the One Chicago rendering place holder.

Should be opening up right around the time the light rail line is opening (or a year ish prior) with the station a block away if you assume some delays from their anticipated completion.

Man, this thing leaves A LOT to be desired. Not even close to contemporary. It looks like something that would have been built in 1982. Just a box with a couple ~gaps~ in it.

That's great it'll be a Ritz, but confusing as to which city we're talking about....I suppose all critiques apply to Austin as well lol.

There are some workers on the site today clearing brush, etc.

Not sure if they are tied to the Quincy (which is likely), but it's possible they're preparing for some more intensive work on this site? Perhaps this, or one of the other Rainey Street sites is basically waiting for the Quincy to finish before beginning construction in earnest.

The only project in that area that could start any day is the Travis. This one is a significant change from Travis II, and there should be an Site Plan Change or Plan Review filed. So far that hasn't happened. But I'm really hoping it's the Travis.

M2 updated their website this weekend. And this project seems to have been scrubbed from it.

What's that tower in the third row of renderings - first picture? Looks like a downsized Austin/Lady Bird Lake project...

That's exactly what I thought. But I couldn't find any info referencing that rendering.

Any ideas as to what that means for this project?

I don't see it as being good. But maybe a redesign is in progress?

It should be illegal to cancel projects like this one. One you announce them you have to build them or you go to jail.

I have to admit this one was kind of an ugo, so meh.

It was too boxy and bland. It would be one thing if our skyline were bigger and more accommodating of more average stuff, but coming here and laying an 800 foot box is...savage.
