I am also Canadian, and would also like to move to Dubai. I am a Certified General Accountant, so I would have no problems getting a job. However, how would you go about living in a country you never even heard of until 2 years ago?

I've also been in Dubai. If you have a chance to move there, do it, because it is expanding in such high way and if you go as supervisor it is worthy. The quality of live there is splendours and not that expensive to normal people. Of course, if you go as worker, than it is not that kingdom way of life. I recommend. If I had a Chance I would move tommorrow without thinking twice. The weather is splendid there. It will be the city of future in such a fast way and in just 3 years. I have never been in Canada, but I am sure UAE is better then.

Buying a property (apartment, house) makes you permanent resident of Dubai. Thats way so many people from Iran for example are buying properties in Dubai. Just to become Dubai resident. :-)

I want to live in Dubai as well. I love skyscrapers a new development such as Dubai city. I am even running website about this www.skyscrapervideos.com . If I had a chance and money I would go to Dubai right now.

^^ No, there is no such called permanent resident !! The ones who buy property get a residence visa, which should be renewed every three years.

Dsa, what exactly do u mean by starting ur life?

I'm just saying by that "living there". I know a job is a must there but i was more likely to find how to get in there easily. The dubai forum is a good reference.
Thanks!

I have recently returned to the UK from living/working in Dubai for six months - I'm 22 - and would just say if any one has the chance to work in Dubai - go for it!

Canadian huh, can you tolerate the hot weather almost full year around? Not normally hot, it is super hot, over 36 degrees C by meter with nearly 40 degrees C to body feel.
