there have been a lot of proposals, but not much dirt moving. I've read that high construction costs are keeping some projects from breaking ground, but hopefully we'll see at least a couple more get underway soon.

here's a new 125-unit apartment proposal for the east end (story and image from Boisedev.com):

^^ Were all of those photos taken very recently? The third photo has a lot of Fall colors in the tress and leaves. I didn't think Fall colors showed up that much until at least early October in Boise.

i'm guessing the top two were taken in the last year. the last one was definitely from earlier this summer... you can see the new hotel construction on the right side, which as of today is only up to the second floor.

the leaves here are just starting to turn, but you're right that the first photo is likely from last fall.

new hotel/residential proposal for Garden City (a suburb of Boise that's basically surrounded by the city... this proposal would be about a mile from downtown Boise). called the Boardwalk, the hotel is proposed to be 8 floors, which would be the tallest structure in Garden City, and would be situated along the Boise river.

thanks Ex-Ithacan. you have impeccable timing--Visum Development (of Ithaca) announced in their recent newsletter that they're preparing to break ground very soon on their Boise apartment project, the Vanguard:

will be a nice addition to downtown. wish it was about twice as tall, though.

Pic of the Home2Suites going up taken from a balcony at the Inn at 500. Hard to see but there were also workers on the roof of the BizPrint prepping for the tear down for The Vanguard. Also saw the ground broken for Caddis and Cartee with both well under way.

that's an interesting angle. if the two residential projects on 6th and Grove get approved, that view will change quite a bit with 4 projects between 6 and 8 floors filling in the space.

also, the crane for the 11th and Idaho building went up this week.

new residential proposal on the west end. this would replace a run-down art deco building.

Sawtooth added a few more construction progress images here:

http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...45#post8770845

A lot of activity going on now. Nothing is what I'd call significant--most projects are in the 7-10 floor range, but they still will add some good density.

the residential proposal between Whole Foods and Winco took a step forward towards groundbreaking. according to the Idaho Press, construction could begin in the spring (image from Idaho Press):

Quote:
BOISE — The developer of new apartments near the downtown Boise WinCo Foods will be reimbursed with urban renewal funds for almost $1 million of infrastructure costs.

On Monday, Capital City Development Corporation unanimously approved up to $988,276 to refund St. Louis-based developer CDG Acquisitions for infrastructure improvements around its proposed seven-story apartment building next to WinCo Foods on Myrtle Street. That includes funding for sidewalks, historic street lights, and landscaping along Myrtle and Avenue A.

The $52 million project, which WinCo will own, is set to begin construction in May and be completed in 2022.

this will be the 5th large residential project on the east side to be under construction, with 3 more proposals still in the works for the same area.
