FARM BY PENNEYWELL ROAD/ NEPTUNE ROAD IN THE 50s-70s

Hi!

Does anyone have any information about the farm that was off Old Penneywell Road? Came across a title issue with the sale of the house in the area and shooting for the stars hoping to find someone who knows!

If you don't get any answers here, the City archives located in the Railway Coastal Museum may be some help.

I grew up on Old Pennywell Road not far from that farm. Went to school with some of them. The farm in question was owned by a family named McDonald. Flemings and Rices lived directly next door to the farm. The Rices are the family that owns "The Big R" restaurant and were also related to the McDonalds through marriage as did the Flemings. Recently one of the sons of the original owner passed away. Here is a link to the obituary. There are many other names mentioned in it. Not sure if it is helpful or not.

So Old McDonald had a farm after all. Interesting post, thanks. I did not know that the R in The Big R comes from the family name.
