Vista Tower site from the NOAA - Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory webcam

Vista Tower site this morning from the NOAA - Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory webcam.

One Bennett Park is also visible to the right, followed by Optima Phase II (crane removed), NU Biomedical Research Center and No. 9 Walton with crane, just noticeable and to the right of the John Hancock.

I suspect the seagull likes the view as well.

^Of course not, but it's always a relief when we're through all the bureaucratic red tape. Alderman Riley apparently got his paid trip to the Bahamas, bolstered college fund and the steak dinner quota was met.

^ Once again, the only part of the "bureaucratic red tape" that is a meaningful barrier is the zoning, which was secured long ago.

At least if you are talking about the city. The other huge barrier, of course, is $$$

Vista Tower rising in the Chicago Skyline from Lake Michigan

Although challenging, Vista Tower can be seen from the NOAA webcam on Lake Michigan and has been visible from at least the 10th of May. Below are images collected on 11 and 15 May.

Crazy to think that whole area is going to look so much smaller from that view compared to this one in 2020.

One Bennett will also have a big impact from that vantage. It's gonna really stretch the skyline east

Bvic, Solar, and Harry, thank you for taking the time for these shots. It's like a free education for us amateur skyscraper nerds on the forum. Also, this has got to be the longest cement pourer I've seen in Chicago. Does the crane hook up and hold it for support when it is stretched that long? Or is the rig strong enough to support itself?

When the end gets bouncing (harmonics with the pump ?) the guy on the end just guides it a bit. A big selling point for much of this equipment is that it doesn't require boom time. The concrete pump/boom, the climbing forms for the core, even the screens on the outside.

The company that does the form on this site Doka Forms
