It makes be wonder if Weston Foods might make a play for a big portion of locations.

In terms of CF v Anthro and Urban Outfitters, locally I wonder if those locations are perhaps attracting the same people that have seen crime rise in general in Polo Park. I know the mall is so heavily security cameraed they can trace back after an incident and follow people the whole time they are in the public spaces of the mall and likely the shared back room halls and such. The other piece though is to publicly be saying they aren't welcome back in Polo is likely saying they are not welcome in ANY CF property. I am not sure what exactly is behind this but that it has gotten to public statements is a pretty major rift.
RE Ne'er-do-wells, Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters aren't the stores they'd be hitting imo. Those are stores for teenage to mid twenties girls, not thugs trying to catch a devious lick. Something tells me this is purely the local exec getting an offer from London Drugs for some serious clams and they don't have the foresight to see the closure of two attraction stores in the long run.

I am wondering the same thing. Plus, London drugs is really pushing to challenge Shoppers Drug Mart given the perception these days of Loblaws and how they are price gouging shoppers.

I was in the Eastgate mall this morning (Peavy Mart etc.) and noticed there was a new managed by sign on the exterior of the shopping mall.

From what the address from the sign says it looks like H Tallman International aka Princess Auto has formed a holding company to own the shopping center.

That may be one of the reasons that a restaurant owned by the principals of Princess Auto is going in the former Tony Roma's on Narin @ Panet.

It sure will be nice to have a BBQ joint in the city. The two biggest food categories Winnipeg is missing in my opinion is 1. good BBQ and 2. authentic sit-down Mexican.

Not sure of the format going in the former Tony Roma's as its still not open but with a name of Bell's Kitchen and Music Hall a steak place sounds likely.

I've heard the concept is BBQ but that could be incorrect.

I was at the Outlet Collection on Saturday late afternoon/early evening for the first time in several months. The place was packed! I only saw one one empty unit in the entire mall - a rather large space across from Winner's. I'm not sure what was there previously.

Retail is alive and well in this part of the city.

City zoning sign up at the former Triple B’s billiards on Henderson Hwy just north of McIvor. Says for a restaurant with drive thru. I have heard rumours of Wendy’s.

Not a rumor anymore. The CU application has been posted and the render is showing a Wendy's facade.

Then Wendy's will be potentially coming back to Henderson Highway. They use to further south on Henderson @ Oakland before the great Wendy's store closings in Winnipeg around 2007,

I guess there may be a hint of the brand name on the prints when the public hearing info gets released to the city web site.

Apparently another 7/11 is closing in Winnipeg as their lot was sold. The store at 234 St. Mary's road is suppose to be gone by the end of month.

People on other fourms are saying it's going to be a CO-OP but they don't know if its a Red River CO-OP station/Cstore or a condo type build.

I live very close to there. 1st speculation from community Facebook groups is useless! It's a very very small lot and Co-Op arent in the convenience store business unless theres gas station and there no room for gas pumps there.

Condo / Apartment is possibility but the lot is only about 80'x80'

I agree not a gas station/C store but the lot is listed at almost 12,000 sg ft so I could see a small Apartment there.

All the Wendy's are still too far from where I live!

The great Wendy's closing of Main St, Henderson and Nairn deprived me of the Wendy's for so long. Plessis and the potential Triple B's site aren't close enough!

Looks like in March 2024 Capital Commercial Investment has (had) 3 more 7-11 lots up for sale in Winnipeg as well.

One of them is on the list for closure so I don't know if that impacts the value of the lot potentially not having a paying tenant.

Is there a collated list of 7-11 closures, planned or already complete, in Winnipeg. There was the list given out be Sev recently. but that didn't include ones that are already closed. Such as Ellice or Nairn.

No list that i have see, if I had not stumbled on the St. Mary closure on Reddit I don't think I would have known about it.

I was surprised that Narin 7-11 lasted as long as it did as it had a really big grassed section behind the store that was not used for anything. I wonder if Devon Estates (Imperial Oil's property management division) kept the lease open with 7-11 until the lot cleaned itself up enough that it could be sold without expensive remediation.

A lot of the older 7-11 locations are former gas stations. I can think of 5 in East Kildonan alone.

Speaking of which, the former 7-11 at Ellice and Maryland has seen some contractor activity. Construction bin out front being filled and emptied, and the building’s exterior sign backing has been replaced with fresh plywood. Wonder what’s going in there or if it’s just being freshened up for another sell attempt. Was for sale for quite a while then a few months back the for sale signs vanished.

“Livestock” has closed their store in the Fortune Bldg. 2/4 storefronts currently empty.
