Road trip Washington - May 2009

Here are the beginnings of actual scenes from the road of a spontaneous trip I did in May.

The first road photo
The Tiger Mountain Area - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_Mountain

Climbing above the Issaquah/Tiger Mt. area

Fairly quickly I reach the pass

My ride

You can see the towns that were part of this trip at these threads:
Bellevue, WA

Ellensburg, WA

One more town and more road coming soon.

Been up that way many times. How many cities can you drive an hour and be at the top of a pass in beautiful mountains? Awesome.

As someone who has lived in Delaware almost my entire life, and is familiar with driving almost exclusively in the Northeats, with just a little bit of the Southeast as well, I just cannot imagine what it is like to drive and see huge mountains like that ahead of you.

^It's breathtaking.

I felt the same way on visits to the Smoky Mountains when I lived in the south after years of not being near mountains.

My ride at Snoqualmie Pass

There's a rest stop on the east side of the mountains nearing Cle Elum where you can see this sign and the real thing:

After the Stewart Range you begin to notice a change then...

BAM! Where did all the trees go?

96 miles out of Seattle, 96 miles (and a lot more to go) closer to Boston

This was the last photo of the Ellensburg thread:

More to come.
