I unofficially retired in Dec. and building this model is how I've been spending a lot of my time over the winter. I enjoy the challenge of getting the details as accurate as I can, within the limitations of the program. One of the primary reasons I wanted to make it was a desire to see how all these proposals would look if they all got built. Most renders put out by developers and architects only show the future building in the current skyline, even if taller buildings are being built near-by. Or worse, they show an out-of-date skyline. And developers rarely show other future developments by competitors. With this model all of the future developments can be seen at once, in the context of their neighbourhoods and surroundings.

koops, I'm curious as I'm doing similar models (but on a much smaller scale!!) - is there a reason you didn't use google earth/sketchup combo? Would be quite easy to share your models.... great work btw, in future skylines and especially all your diagrams

Thanks...I was already making the crude beginnings of this model in Second Life about 4 years ago, and I have just added to it and upgraded it ever since. It kind of took on a life of its own. Looking back now, I wish I had made it in Google Earth, but its too late to switch platforms at this time...

Be sure to play around with them.

The 300 main model makes a huuuge difference in google earth though, i never knew it would seem so much better than the placeholder box from before

I'm not sure if this opinion will be shared, but this angle of 300 main is my favorite so far

Now for the panoramas

Who cares what platform you're using... the effort counts for much! Well done! I can't wait to see Hamilton with some big new towers...
