Smile NEW YORK | Tower 111 | 554 FT | 48 FLOORS | Built

885 6th Ave
500-600 ft
47 Floors
Costas Kondylis



Costas Kondylis designed this tower as well as its southern neighbor 855 6th Ave. this tower has an L shape and wraps around the 336 ft 875 6th Ave. There is no official height but the render is comparable to the 615 ft Epic down the block. This will be across the street from the Manhattan Mall. A major retail block is allotted to the lower floors.

8/24/08
All of the buildings on the lot have finally been demolished. they are currently digging out the foundation.

Will probably result in being tolerable/decent infill. It's Costas, so we shouldn't expect anything special. Its strongest sides would be adding a major retail component to street level, bulking up the emerging cluster and extending the 6th Avenue canyon.

Agreed, in-fill at best,however, the Empire State bldg is starting to get a nice cluster of 500-600 ft bldg around it. This bldg will beef-up the southern midtown skyline along with the Epic, SkyHouse, and the other under construction skyscrapers on Sixth Ave (839 and 855).

Its being said on other sites that the plan for this one is that once the foundations are completed all work is to stop. I do not know the validity to that

Sounds accurate. I've read somewhere that a lot of these sites will have their foundations completed for now.

Along with Beekman Tower, some of the other projects citywide that will be moving forward under the PLA include 80 Dekalb Ave., Tower 111, 150 Amsterdam Ave., 200 and 300 North End Ave., the Milford Plaza Hotel, a Hunter College project and and St. Mary’s Children’s Hospital, among several others.

At first I was like where is this building located. I searched on Google Earth and realized it located right next to Manhattan Mall. This is going to be tall for the area. But no where close to ESB.

This is coming 885 6th Ave is coming and Fitzpatrick Hotel is coming. Epic is there, and all of them are around 600 ft. This will be a nice and uniqe cluster.

MIDTOWN—The Midwest has cow-tipping, and Midtown has crane-tipping. The latest mishap happened at Tower 111, the 47-story office tower designed by Costas Kondylis rising near the Manhattan Mall on Sixth Avenue. A tipster writes: "Crane came down on the project site on 31st st and 6th ave right before 2 PM today. Tons of gawkers and construction workers milling around."
