I currently have an old Nikon FG-20 SLR from 1980 which is an absolutely lovely camera. Just the basics, F-Stop, Shutter Speed, ISO, Focus, and the likes, but basically stripped down to nothing. The best part about it is it was pre-computers so everything is mechanical and I don't have to worry about batteries or any of that stuff.

I am in the process of shopping for a new DSLR, which I have narrowed down to either a Nikon D-40x or a Sony a-100. I have heard rave reviews of the A-100, but Nikon just has such great reputation and I love the signature tone their pictures have. Its a tough decision.
