- Spokane -

My partner and I relocated from the Puget Sound area to the dry eastern side of Washington State about a year ago. I've been snapping a few pics here and there - not much rhyme nor reason to the order of photos.

Here's a little bit of Spokane!

Intriguing. That's not a city we see here often.

Also, it goes without saying that downtowns with waterfalls are best downtowns.

Great series of pics.

Spokane will always be the bigger sister city to my hometown of Kelowna. It's looking great in these photos.

Love to see Spokane on SSP!

The falls are really, really impressive in person, like something you'd go a long way to visit.

Riverfront Park (with the latice-structure feature) is one of my favorites anywhere. It was a World's Fair site in 1974 and has been nicely redone.

Downtown Spokane is legit. Featured in Macklemore's "Downtown" btw. The Davenport Hotel is fantastic.

Gonzaga's basketball team is also pretty legit.

Spokane is very much like Boise, though the latter has grown faster due to Micron etc. Very similar size, weather, outdoor culture...

Spokane is underrated. Great access to outdoor sports and lakes across the border in Idaho.

I recall being extremely surprised by Spokane when I visited several years ago. It seems as though Boise receives the vast majority of the attention when it comes to sizable cities in that region, but Spokane absolutely deserves a much greater portion of the attention than it gets.

Agreed Boise gets a lot more attention than Spokane; made a few trips down there and it is growing quickly and is a very nice city. I'd be happy living there as well.

Downtown Spokane definitely feels more old school urban than Boise, almost like it could fit right in with the rustbelt cities of the midwest.

If Gonzaga was named Spokane State, the city would be more famous.

Boise is probably known for the football team x10 anything else once you get beyond SSP types and state capital recitations.

Nice pictures! Spokane looks like a Washington version of Boise, which would make sense. I see a little bit of a cultured Wyoming town, as well. The northern interior has a distinct look.

I was just in Spokane on Friday and didn't get a chance to see much of city outside of downtown but a definite different vibe than western WA for sure.
