This may tie into the effort to add new Amtrak platforms at the old abandoned mail platforms under the Old Post Office. For passenger use, those platforms will need at least two exits to street level for fire code, and at least one accessible. I see that an elevator popup is included in one of the renderings.

Yup, look like Western Ave going to become very dense and fast. BRT likely coming too. Will become a highlight of the city vs the blight it used to be

Community meeting for the 39th St & Lake Park Ave RFP site. The city suggested developers propose 400-800 units when bidding, so this will likely be a massive development

Oakwood Boulevard & Lake Park Avenue Community Meeting
Quote:
The Chicago Department of Planning and Development is seeking to redevelop a large cluster of thirty (30) City-owned parcels on six (6) sites at the confluence of 39th Street (Pershing Road), Oakwood Boulevard, South Lake Park Avenue, and Du Sable Lake Shore Drive (the "Development Sites"). The sites present a unique opportunity to create an equitable, transit-oriented neighborhood adjacent to regional assets and attractions including the historic Bronzeville & Kenwood communities, the Oakwood Beach, 31st Street Beach, Burnham Lakefront Park, and Lake Michigan.

Ald. Lamont Robinson (4) is hosting a community meeting for residents to hear about the development proposals from 6 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 10 at King College Prep, 4445 S. Drexel Blvd.

3618 N Halsted

At the next East Lakeview Neighbors meeting (Oct 22) a developer will be proposing a development at 3619 N Halsted with ~150 units, 75 parking spaces, ~10 stories.

If anyone lives in the area you should voice your support! Excited to see more details.

Always good to see a surface lot bite the dust, especially in such an expensive neighborhood, on such a busy strip with one of the busiest bus lines in the city and blocks from the Red Line.

Looks like this should be breaking ground here soon. "Developer gets $29m for Lincoln Park Apartments".

The Ave (Humboldt Park) ISW

Quite exciting to see one of the ISW projects progressing. Design’s definitely been sacrificed a bit, but I expect it’ll look better than the rendering displays, it’s not the best render

NIMBYs gonna NIMBY. Not only are they complaining about the density, but ALSO the lack of parking? Wha?

Rogers Park alderwoman rejects plan to build 6-story apartment building on vacant lot

"Among neighbors’ top complaints were the density of the building, the inclusion of only nine parking spaces and the possibility of further traffic congestion in the neighborhood, Hadden said."

Riddle me this: how does one further traffic congestion in a neighborhood by providing only nine spots?

The Chicago Fire is entering the stadium drama. I'm happy they're not going to be requesting public subsidies

Mansueto eyes Lincoln Yards, 78, Michael Reese sites for new soccer stadium
Quote:
Chicago Fire FC owner Joe Mansueto said he is "actively pursuing" development of a new soccer-specific stadium in the city and is targeting three proposed megaprojects as potential sites.

Calling a new team-controlled stadium the "last piece of the puzzle" to put the Major League Soccer club on a more solid foundation for its future, the billionaire Morningstar founder and team chairman today said he has toured Lincoln Yards on the city's North Side, The 78 in the South Loop and the former Michael Reese Hospital site south of McCormick Place as possible destinations for a new venue.
....
Mansueto, who is on Forbes' list of the 400 richest Americans, previously said he would not pursue public funding for a soccer stadium if the team were to build one. His comments today are his most definitive public statements to date that the team is hunting for a new home.
https://www.chicagobusiness.com/spor...-stadium-sites

Quote:
Mansueto, the founder, CEO and chairman of Morningstar, with a reported net worth of $7.1 billion, said the team would privately finance a new stadium.

“My personal view is that stadiums are not a great investment,” Mansueto said. “They’re big, costly to maintain, sit empty most of the time. And so to the extent that they create value, most of that accrues to the sports team, not the municipality. So to me, it’s fair that the sports team should own it. Moreover, here in Illinois, in the City of Chicago, our finances are strained. Teachers want more money, law enforcement needs money, pension obligations. Our city and state don’t have the funds, to be candid, and so to me, we would privately finance it.”

Not sure of the exact project address, but the building(s) that used to be between 1200 and 1300 W. Carroll are all being demolished now.

Not sure about the others, but Habitat has a pretty solid track record of getting projects approved, financed and built.
