They absolutely deserve 100% more. And it starts with the owner.

Jerry R. couldn't kick the bucket soon enough.

Not sure where that leaves fans with his kids, however.

It absolutely starts with the owners, but Reinsdorf isn’t doing jack and he will not because he doesn’t care. The Bulls are his baby, the White Sox are the one-night-stand bastard that he has to pay child support for. Very begrudgingly. And again, this is coming from a very long-time fan who has spent thousands and thousands of dollars on prime tickets to support the team..but even then, it’s fine to be very critical of any organization, sports or otherwise, when they’re not even trying to do their job.

Would I like to see a new Sox park located in the 78? Yes…but if it’s going to be a taxpayer funded affair, the organization and its owner need to do far better in earning that funding. And considering Reinsdorf was caught on a hot mic not giving a shit about the team and only caring about revenue streams, AND with the ever-present threat of relocation, it’s a very hard sell.

I love seeing a field like that in the photo Steely shared, and can very clearly imagine a sweet new stadium as part of the overall 78 master development. The renderings released earlier this year (or was it last year?) are awesome. But again, it’s a hard sell, for me.

Mayor Johnson's seemingly eagerness to throw massive subsidies for the 78 or Bears alone should disqualify him when he runs again for reelection.

This is still the 3rd largest market in the country, and if any city team wants to flee for a market of 2-3 million elsewhere that throws billions at a team so they get on some radar it is time to happily hold the exit door for them.

Not true about he favored the bulls over the Sox , this is the same man that said he would trade all of the Bulls championships for world, Series trophies. Reinsdorf has been making moves like the Chicago sports network, united center development and I believe him and the bears are in talks , just my soul telling me

He's about a 6-6 remaining game record away from becoming the owner of the worst team in baseball history. Congrats on your new network and real-estate deals.

The man is a scoundrel.

I saw the preliminary renderings for a new ballpark and hopefully that or something similar gets built for the White Sox.

Is it different from the one we’ve seen?

Hopefully nothing gets built FOR the White Sox, if something gets built BY the White Sox that's a different matter

Chicago White Sox lose 121st game this season, most in baseball history
The 1962 New York Mets, at 40-120, held the record for 62 years.

A historic season.

Jerry Reinsdorf in discussions to sell White Sox, according to report
The Athletic reported that Reinsdorf is in discussions with a group led by former major league pitcher Dave Stewart to sell the club.

By Steve Greenberg

White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf is “open to selling” the White Sox and is in discussions with a group led by former major league pitcher Dave Stewart to do just that, according to The Athletic.

Doing so would be an enormous story for many reasons, not the least of which is the 88-year-old Reinsdorf’s extreme unpopularity with Sox fans. The Sox are coming off back-to-back 100-loss seasons and were 41-121 this year for a record number of losses in the modern era.

Reinsdorf led a group that bought the Sox in 1981 for $20 million. According to Forbes, the club is worth approximately $2 billion.

Very very interesting.

Honestly I don't know how Sox players got up in the morning this past season. Stinking misery.

Fun fact: Mellody Hobson, native Chicagoan, president of Ariel Investments and wife of George Lucas is apparently a minority owner of the team. Scuttlebutt that I've heard from people who work for the organization is that she and other minority owners apparently are NOT keen on the idea of the team being moved to Nashville and want any buyer to keep it in Chicago. It would be asinine to move the team to another city where broadcast revenue alone would be a fraction of what it is here, let alone building a new fan base essentially from scratch. We shall see..

^ but isn't JR an outright majority owner?

He can do whatever the hell he wants to with the team.

But it'd really be a damn shame if the Sox ever leave town. They are one of the "old school 10" - the 10 MLB teams that have been playing in their original city since the olden days of the late 19th/early 20th centuries.*

The last time an "old school" team left its original city was in 1961, when the original Senators franchise left DC for the twin cities.

The "old school 10" has been going strong now for 63 years, and as of right now, Chicago is the only city that has both NL and AL "old school" teams. I'd hate to see it drop down to 9.

(*) Red Sox, Yankees, Phillies, Pirates, Reds, Guardians, Tigers, White Sox, Cubs, and Cardinals

I read somewhere he owns only 19% of the team.
