Me too. This became my favorite yet to start project after the Conrad was cancelled. Two other significant projects that are still showing signs of life in the permitting process are 506 West and the 3rd & San Jacinto towers.

Honestly, I won’t be disappointed either way. We either get a decent (slightly better than generic, but not excellent) tower or roll the dice on a different proposal in the future which could be better, could be worse, or could be about the same.

Pearlstone now has 62 East on their website and lists it as "coming soon" in 2028. There still haven't been any site plan updates in a year, so they are not in a hurry to get it approved. Their new website is pretty cool, and this may be a new rendering:

Somthing to look forward to! I personally hope the theme is charcoal and silver like the banner photo on their website vs the blue and cream on the above render. I liked that version way better. This new version also has expanded its ground floor street frontage of glass, was there somthing required on that from city? Been so long…..

Also Cambria looks much better with their sign gone in the rendering haha

Ooo, I rather like the cream and blue. Grey / black age poorly and are very 2010s.

Wish this had a crown of some kind or a smallish spire.

I think it looks like any tall building anywhere. Blue glass, inset and cantilevered balconies, boxy design. If someone wants to design a boxy glass building that stands out, they should make it any color other than blue. Even black would be original these days. But I prefer something unique, like dark red, forest green, or Longhorn burnt orange.

"Longhorn" burnt orange = tackiest option imaginable. But yes, agree on the need for variety.

I'd be interested in seeing the other side of this rendering -- as I understand it, this would also span the entire block between Rainey and East Ave. Along with the garage ramp, it looks like the "entrance" to the building is on East Ave., which I'm hoping means they'll have space for a restaurant/etc., on the Rainey side (and ideally not a blank wall or a second lobby entrance...).

If you look at the elevation drawings on page 5, you'll see it only extends to the alley, not all the way to Rainey. Looks like they will have a mural painted on that side, but that's about it.

A restaurant is planned for the site behind 62 East facing Rainey that currently has food trailers. The restaurant address will be 71 Rainey.

Ahhh, right you are. I suppose there's not much that can be done then, particularly with that alley being relatively narrow and covered quite a bit from 700 River.

A mural is great, but putting it on the ground level facing (what will be) a largely unused alleyway is crazy
