Honestly I'd be cool with even a 6-9 story on that bad. Anything to fill in the missing tooth here haha.

I agree. You think they would have no trouble filling up a new 6 story apartment building in this part of downtown. Might as well make use of the expense of the pad. Maybe they can partner with a local residential developer?

Looks like a cool restaurant however...

"The Beachcomber was open until 1990."

So it closed 7 years before I was born, that's probably why I don't remember it haha.

Ditto. My dad has talked about it before lol

I went to a tiki bar in Vancouver a few years back - tiny place but a great experience. This was the place: "Shameful Tiki room"

Would love more themed bars like this peppered throughout downtown.

I once went to a Canadian themed bar in Hong Kong. But they didn't have Wiser's De Luxe.

I feel like such a place wouldn't do as well here.

A tiki bar would be awesome.

Been there too! We need that here. I always wanted to check out the Beachcomber but my friends were too cool for places like that. They didn't appreciate the kitsch factor like I did. Then suddenly it closed. If only they held on a little longer, the place would have been cool again. It turned into a greek restaurant that maintained some of the decor, I believe. Never went there either.

If you guys want a quasi-Tiki bar, check out the Filipino bar in the Albert. It's super fun on a good night.

You mean the Royal Albert Hotel? What's the bar called? I can't find anything about it online.

So I guess the "empty" pad for residential apartments will be left out for now until a more clear plan is in place.

A concept of a plan if you will.
