What's interesting is that The Source at Mayflower Mall in Sydney NS is also converting to Best Buy Express, when they have a full service store inside the same exact mall.
Interesting. At least in Moncton they are on opposite sides of town.

Construction hoarding has been removed from Griffin Jewelry at CF Champlain. Opening must be imminent:

According to the recently updated CF Champlain leasing plan, the old Soft Moc spot across from Ardene is now leased.

Supposedly a new concept combo store for Laura/Melanie Lyne, and Moncton will be the archetype for this. Head office will be keeping a close eye on this.

Good. This is actually a fairly high profile CRU (prominent corner next to Freak Lunchbox and across from Jump+). It will be very interesting seeing who the tenant will be.

It will be Canada Weather Gear, (a Fairweather sister-store). Store manager of Ardene confirmed over on Retail Talk and Share that the company has been in that unit for the last few weeks doing interviews.

Signage is up for Laura and Melanie Lyne at Wheeler Park

These look like temporary banner like signs. If I was to guess, this will be the signage that will be up when they have their soft opening in early October. I imagine more permanent lighted signage will be installed later in the fall.

It seems obvious that Montreal based Leyad is focusing on retail ventures in Moncton at this time. It's understandable that they'd want to strengthen the Wheeler Park Power Center, being that it's their initial acquisition in the city.

They are also heavily involved in residential property development, with significant holdings. Once they have strengthened their retail business, it would be nice to see them venture into the Moncton residential market.

Here's a quote from Leyad owner Henry Zavriyev when they purchased Wheeler Park in October:

Quote:
“While there are currently no plans for residential projects on the site, we’re not closing any doors and remain receptive to diverse opportunities,” said Zavriyev.

There will now only be a single vacant CRU in Wheeler Park (the former Source).

I think thats pretty damned impressive.

Quite a comeback from the depths of COVID.

Exactly. It tells me that Leyad is a company that is pretty adept at what they do, and must be well connected in the retail industry.

I don't know if we'll ever see them enter the residential market in Moncton, but they'd make a nice addition to the list of developers operating in Moncton. It'd be nice to see them purchase some of the Heritage assets and do something with them.

In terms of untapped potential, I don't think there is a greater set of underutilized assets than the portfolio heritage has in Moncton.

Hoarding has been removed from the front of the renovated American Eagle at CF Champlain. It would appear that reopening is imminent.

I have to say I was quite surprised at their (Heritage) downtown holdings when it came up in our discussions a while back. I seem to remember that they own a lot of prime undeveloped land downtown. It would be a shame if they just continued to sit on it.

Apparently Presotea was open today for a soft opening. Not sure when they're having a grand opening

Thanks. I’ve been looking forward to trying this out. I looked at their menu online once and it was pretty extensive, with some interesting sounding drinks

I tried out Presotea today. Not bad. Not bad at all.

They have a very extensive selection of beverages available, only some of which are bubble teas.

https://www.presotea.ca/our-drinks/

I had the strawberry cheese cloud.

The Canadian Tire store in Dieppe is currently under renovation. As part of the renovation, the facade is getting a complete makeover:
