Yeah, it wasn't until the mid-90s that NYC started taking off and surpassed Chicago.

Is that the Coture? I did check Milwaukee, but I don't know why I didn't see that.

Yep, that's the one.

First move-ins started earlier this year.

To the best of my knowledge, Jersey City is the first and only non-central city municipality in the US to have an 800+ foot skyscraper.

In Chicago, they're colloquially known as "the corn cobs".

Sunny Isles, Florida is getting closer to the 800ft mark with a new 749ft tower (tallest in oceanfront building in the USA).

Did the FAA boost Sunny Isles Beach height limit? I remember it being capped at around 649 feet even though the city isn't anywhere near the Miami Airport.

The City reigns as the second tallest Skyline in all of Florida after Miami too.

You are correct, however, the FAA also makes special exceptions like in this case.

I wonder how many cities call their round towers "corn cobs." Seattle has three:

The issue with Sunny Isles is the Opa-Locka airport to the west. Its far away but still sort of in the landing/taking off flight line. All those Sunny Isles residents taking their private jets taking off from Opa-Locka affecting the heights of towers in Sunny Isles

Bellevue has a 600' limit. The second just topped out (both for Amazon) and six others are planned but not imminent. Everyone in the small 600' area goes right to that limit. I bet someone would go significantly taller if they could.

LA's Bonaventure Hotel (367', 35 fl.) has five round towers but the skin doesn't have balconies as "kernels" so nobody calls them corncobs:

Too bad they didn't just stack those and build a 1500 footer!

I always likened the Bonaventure to a giant stack of quarters with adjacent four stacks of giant dimes.

I had no idea LA had its own Ren Center. That guy who is always comparing LA and Detroit must be having heart palpitations.
