Street artist Banksy started unveiling a series of animal-themed works on August 5, 2024. Every day for the next 9 days, a new work around London would come to light. Not all his recent works have survived though. One looked like it was stolen shortly after it was installed while another was dismantled quickly.

Does Banksy have permission to paint those? I think I read somewhere that he did one on the side of a building, and he did not have permission, but it increased the value of the property, but the owner didn't want it in the first place and might have gotten rid of it.

Doesn't he do guerilla street art? And I guess calling it "guerilla" street art might be redundant. Some have called Banksy the richest vandal in the world.

I don't think so, but it seems he is famous enough for the owners to protect it most of the time.

My understanding is graffiti is illegal, and street art is legal.

For shorter distances, I prefer riding buses, which are cheaper and you have a free transfer for the next hour. So if I were to run some errands and make short stops, this would be a more economical option than taking the Tube. At 1.75 pounds a ride, it's cheaper than even the cheapest Tube ride outside the Heathrow freebie zone. The big downside is there is no air-conditioning, although most Tube lines also have the same problem.

Hanging above Covent Garden's market building over summer 2024 is 'Little Cloud World', an art installation by Los Angeles-based FriendsWithYou with 40 floating clouds to inspire people to spread kindness and compassion.

Brick Lane is named after the kilns set up here after the Great Fire to rebuild the city. During World War II, German bombers devastated the area as it was close to factories and docks. As the Jewish community moved on, the Bengalis from Sylhet took their place in the 1970s and 80s. Today, part of the street shows a strong Bengali influence with many shops and restaurants, although it is increasingly becoming more multicultural.

Starting at Camden Town station on the Northern Line, you quickly see the colourful facades on High Street's buildings. This area was named after the first Earl Camden, Charles Pratt, who began developing the town in 1791. Its importance grew upon the Regent Canal's opening in 1820, and Camden Town became a trade and industrial centre.







The Buck Street market is made up of stacked shipping containers and primarily sells food.























Continuing along High Street, there are few signs of punk culture that once dominated the area. That history goes back to 1976 at the Roundhouse, which was a hotspot for counter-culture. Musical performances by the likes of Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix were held here.

Hawley Wharf lies on the north side of Regent's Canal and has been revitalized from an underused market into a mix of shopping and residential buildings.

Camden Lock Market's history dates back to 1974 as a small arts and crafts venue in Dingwalls' backyard that operated one day a week only. There were just 16 stalls. More markets opened nearby as the area became fashionable. Today, it is a huge shopping mall that is spread across cobblestone yards and former warehouses.

Finding decent Japanese food is a challenge even in London. I had to venture north to Hampstead to find some good grub, setting me back almost 75 pounds for a variety of skewers, sashimi, and sushi. With the staff speaking Japanese and asking if I want me wasabi on the side or inside the sushi, I knew the end products would be authentic.

Even before summer drew to a close, Liberty opened its Christmas shop at its London store near Piccadilly Circus. It has a wide selection of food and ornaments, including Royal Family figurines for your holiday tree.

Lewisham is less than 10 minutes by rail from London Bridge in the city's southeastern reaches. It is a diverse area, with minorities accounting for 1/3 of the population, so it is the right location to house the Migration Museum.

There are 2 pieces of the Berlin Wall right in front of the museum with artworks by Thierry Noir and STIK. These segments were installed in the late 1970s as part of the wall's 4th generation and stands 3.6m high. Thierry illegally painted over 5km of the wall from 1984-9 to give a more colourful and ridiculous take on the otherwise sad divide, an act of artistic resistance. The artwork symbolizes friendship to all, encouraging dialogue across divisions to find what we all have in common.



The museum has been located in the Lewisham Shopping Centre since 2020.





















Outside, there is plenty of new residential construction clustered around the train station.

Crazy thing about Liberty is that isn't even a third of the Xmas merchandise that will be up in a month or so. Plus when I was there last weekend they hadn't started decorating the store yet. In the main atrium space there is a 30 foot plus "dress form" announcing a arrival of new line of women's clothing at the store.

The pictures in this string are all just fantastic. I really like the coverage of areas I have not been to yet.

Selfridges' Christmas store is now open with plenty of Advent calendars and decor for your consumption-filled holiday. Can't believe it's only late September and the shopping festival begins 3 months ahead of the actual event.

With autumn's arrival, the weather has turned unpredictable, cloudy, and wet although pockets of sun poke out every now and then.

The areas around Poplar Dock Marina and Blackwall Basin is now a quiet residential community but only a stone's throw from Canary Wharf and towering skyscrapers. It's a huge contrast with nice and serene walkways although new bigger developments are under construction nearby.
