The real question is why does the rest of Tennessee hate Nashville, TN (the real golden city for the state and a great place).
Reason... success...
You'll always get that in some states. Always a dynamic going on. Little grudges between North or South or East or West.
Just like in PA, some don't like Philly or Pittsburgh and in NJ, some don't like Trenton or Vineland. Sometimes the North or South of "X" state or East or West can seem like a totally different universe.
Even in cities.
