Same owners as the Madras cafe in Dieppe. They closed back in April due to a fire and never reopened

New five storey apartment building proposed for Cameron Street near Main.

Here are the supporting documents:

https://www5.moncton.ca/docs/pac/PAC...lic_Notice.pdf

I am at work. I will post renders this evening when I get home. Looks like a nice proposal. Another example of Avenir Centre induced densification and modernization in the west end of the downtown.

Presumably since this proposed building is less than six storeys, the Sandpiper Lady will have nothing to say about it (but, then again, you never know).

Nice! I work in a nearby building, I was hoping something significant was going to be developed.

It is dangerously close to the tomato plants though....

In all seriousness, looks like a nice project with two other future buildings to be built on the site. I was not aware that there was a smaller housing structure behind the other houses. That is a very random place to have a house.

Love the way many newer builds are incorporating larger wrap-around balcony's on the corner units. No, or tiny, balcony's are a pet peeve of mine in multi story residential buildings.

Indeed. It would appear that the Red Lion Complex on High Street will not be long for this world since the plans show a new mixed use building on this site.

It'll be interesting to see this whole corner change with these future buildings in the plans. Will this building have a twin?

The new anglophone middle school currently under construction on the Bernice McNaughton campus in the downtown west end of the city finally has a name.

It will be called the Wabanaki Middle School.

Italy Mat in Hammock you mean? Nothing hard about that!

Actually, many here still find "Loyalist Plaza" pretty easy to pronounce.

The application is to construct a 5-storey mixed-use building at 20 Cameron Street.

The development will include 48 residential units with commercial space (dental clinic) on the main floor.

The property is zoned CBD (Central Business District). The proposal requires the following variances:

a) To reduce the number of public entrances from 2 entrances to 1 entrance fronting Cameron Street;
b) To increase the width between the jogs and recesses from 9m to 18.7m on the main floor;
c) To remove the requirement to step the building back within 10m of the street; and
d) To permit double-stacked parking in the indoor parking garage
Renders:

As noted above, the most interesting thing is that this is apparently only the first of three planned buildings in this development, presumably all of similar stature. The second building, immediately north of this structure will be a pure apartment building. The third building, actually on High Street, will be a replacement for the Red Lion Complex, and will be a mixed use building.

This will substantially change the character of this city block (much for the better) and continues the process of intensification, densification and modernization within the downtown west end as part of the greater Avenir Centre precinct.

Are you championing the Saxons reclaiming England too?

What about the Moors taking back Spain?

Once revising history started it would never end. History marches on and you can't turn back time.

Fair enough
I guess there is a reason for not having a political thread on here. Best to stick to discussion of development.

They are in the process of moving the tower crane in the Franklin Yards development to allow for construction of Buildings 5 & 6.

Tenants have already moved into Building 2. Interior fit up is going on in Building 3, and Building 4 is topped off, with final exterior work ongoing.

It's quite an assembly line.........

They could probably fit another one or two of these across Millennium south of the rail spur. Looks like it's 7 PIDs and part of an 8th; I wonder if the seven are owned by one person/group or multiple? The 8th is part of 296-320 Killam to the north.

These guys and Lafford got their proverbial excrement together! I feel Icon will be similar as well. We have some quality developers in this region. I guess that's what happens when opportunity meets ambition!

If/when Trevor Ritchie gets the St.Bernard's building completed, let's hope he can move on to other projects of similar scope. Plus the Junction developers could also build a signature building along Main Street - hopefully starting in 2025 or 26 if interest rates continue to drop.
