I would have assumed anyone would not want the speaker of the house to have ethics issues but apparently principals over pay is to much to ask for nowadays.
You specifically targeted the Liberals when he was elected by the entire House.

Had you omitted that last part, I probably wouldn't have responded to your comment.

Luckily, our Provincial Government does everything above board, right?

Ottawa councillor Matt Luloff named as Conservative candidate for Orléans
Luloff the official candidate for next election, Federal Conservatives announce

CBC News

The Conservative Party of Canada has announced Ottawa city councillor, Matt Luloff, as its candidate for the next election in the riding of Orléans.

"Another common sense Conservative candidate has joined the team and we couldn't be happier," the party said in a statement, calling Luloff a "champion for robust business and economic development."

"Matt Luloff will be a tremendous asset to the team and a strong advocate for the people of Orléans."

Luloff, who represents the ward of Orléans East-Cumberland, was re-elected to city council in 2022.

He was born and raised in Ottawa, served with the Forces in Afghanistan and later got a degree from Carleton, according to a city biography. He has advised members of Parliament and chaired both the city's community and protective services committee and the Ottawa Public Library board, it says.

"I understand that unleashing the power of our workforce by cutting red tape and excessive regulation, axing the Liberal carbon tax, and reining in wasteful spending is what we need to do in order to bring home powerful paycheques and lower prices for the hardworking people of Orléans," said Luloff in the news release posted Friday.

Luloff would only have to give up his council seat if he wins. While a byelection would then likely take place, council could also appoint a temporary replacement.

Two years ago, then-city councillor and deputy mayor Jenna Sudds announced her bid as the Kanata-Carleton Liberal candidate — and was elected as MP and is now the minister of families, children and social development.

Total blunder by Luloff. He's getting roasted hard locally in Orleans and the timing of the announcement couldn't have been worse (on November 11th). He just supported Lansdowne and now claims he will cut red tape and excessive regulation which are two things he's had zero impact on at city hall.

What an ass. Two years before a Federal Election, and now he'll focus on this instead of his job as Councillor. And after he was propped up by the Liberal MPs and MPPs (including his now opponent Marie-France Lalonde) during his municipal election campaigns.

Radio-Canada reached him for comment yesterday, and his response was something along the lines that "today (Remembrance Day) is about fallen comrades, not politics". So why the announcement on November 11?

Looks like he's no longer the conservative nominee

Ottawa Coun. Matthew Luloff charged with impaired driving

"Last November, the Conservative Party of Canada announced Luloff would be the candidate in the riding of Orléans in the next federal election. The Conservative Party tells CTV News Ottawa that Luloff resigned his candidacy on July 10 "due to a personal matter."

Yes, the resignation has NOTHING to do with his impaired driving charge. Nothing at all. Just a coincidence.

Meehan seeks to become Conservative candidate for Ottawa West-Nepean
"Like so many of you, I am worried about how Liberal government policies are hurting Canadians."

Staff Reporter, Ottawa Citizen
Published Jul 29, 2024 • Last updated 15 hours ago • 1 minute read

Carol Anne Meehan has decided to re-enter the political arena, this time at the federal level.

The former longtime CTV Ottawa news anchor, radio host and Ottawa city councillor announced Monday she is seeking to become the Conservative candidate for Ottawa West-Nepean in the next federal election.

“Like so many of you, I am worried about how Liberal government policies are hurting Canadians,” Meehan said in a video posted on her X account. “They have increased the capital gains tax. They’re talking about taxing the equity in our home. We’re paying an expensive carbon tax. They’ve messed up the immigration system. So it’s unfair to newcomers to this country and to us as well.”

Meehan was sworn in to represent the Gloucester-South Nepean ward on city council in 2018 after beating incumbent Michael Qaqish by more than 500 votes.

At the time she announced she would not seek re-election in 2022, she said her political experience had been “enlightening, challenging,” and added, “it was totally infuriating.” She said the COVID-19 pandemic had made the job more difficult because it had reduced or stopped some of the more enjoyable parts of being councillor, like attending community events.

Now, at 67, she says she wants to help bring change to Canada.

“I want to be part of a strong Conservative team that will work towards solutions that will improve our lives,” she said in Monday’s video.

Liberal MP Anita Vandenbeld has held the Ottawa West-Nepean riding since 2015. Before that, Conservative John Baird had held it from 2006 until 2015.

Those terrible Liberals with their Child Care, Dental Care and Pharmacare, ruining the lives of Canadians. And that expensive Carbon Tax that returns to us, with 80% getting more money than we pay in. I have no doubt that the "savings" from axing the tax wouldn't just be absorbed by the oil companies.

The Liberals certainly aren't perfect. Lot of dumb decisions, but overall they are far better than the Conservatives and their slogans.

Carol Anne Meehan drops bid for PC candidacy in Ottawa West-Nepean

Staff Reporter, Ottawa Citizen
Published Aug 09, 2024 • Last updated 2 hours ago • 1 minute read

Despite being what she described as”buoyed by the positive response she has received,” former city councillor and television personality Carol Anne Meehan has announced she will no longer seek the Progressive Conservative candidacy for Ottawa West Nepean in the next federal election.

In a statement on Facebook, Meehan said that when she announced her candidacy, “it was expected the nomination meeting was fairly imminent.

“As of (Thursday) there is no date to choose the Conservative candidate, and it appears there will be no Federal election at least until next year, which is more time than I can spare away from,” her private business.

In her announcement she repeated her support for the Tory party saying “Canada desperately needs a new generation of leadership. Pierre Poilievre is that leader.”

Meehan announced her intention to seek the candidacy on July 29.

The Ottawa-West-Nepean has been held by Liberal MP Anita Vandenbeld, first elected in 2015.

Former cabinet minister John Baird held the riding for the Conservatives from 2006 to 2015.

The next federal election will be held on or before Oct. 20, 2025.

100%. Someone thought she'd be good for name recognition, someone else bothered to check her record on Council. Cons don't want outspoken candidates with opinions. They want "yes" men who tow the Party Line, ignore the media and are fitted with a draw string that when pulled, can only repeat Party slogans.

"Ax the Tax", "Justinflation", "Le Gros Bon Sens".
