Looks like servicing for the second Harbour Landing school is about to start. There's an area fenced off with some gravel laid down. Probably for staging building supplies. Also a fence setup near the end of Gordon so they can block access to Campbell.

Can't come soon enough. The public + catholic school has a combined population of 1,700 students. By the time the new school is built, they will need to start another.

My bet is that within a year, the public side is at 700+, and the catholic side is 500+.

There will likely be an announcement for a second Greens school within the next year. Utilities should start reaching the area where it will be located soon. Probably a 2027 completion with the way they've been staggering these big builds.

The plans for a school in that area have been proposed. Basically, on a single block, there would be:
  • public high school
  • catholic high school
  • public elementary
  • catholic elementary

Both school divisions don't like it, simply because you could potentially have 3,000-5,000 kids on a single block (so imaging the parking and street requirements). The developer wants them all together to save on space, but realistically it's not possible, especially with the field/playground requirements.

I expect to see the elementary schools done first (and on the same land, like other recent ones), and then the high schools done 3-5 years after on a different bit of land.

Yesterday I noticed they extended the path along Woodland Grove from Buckingham to Arens Road. From the condition of the pavement it was probably done a few months ago. The aerial photos from mid-May showed the base aggregate laid down. The concrete neighborhood wall was also extended.

The part of Pinkie south of the tracks is getting its sand layer. They should be able to pave it in a few weeks, but it might be much longer than that before it opens. The rail crossing needs to be widened first and that hasn't been touched yet. There's a bit of road either side of the tracks they skipped over.

The new condo apartment building south of the McKenzie Art Gallery is moving extremely slowly. They broke ground on that over a year and a half ago and are just setting up forms for the second story floor.

Rezoning application for a wedge of land in the SE corner of Harbour Landing. I believe the RM used to own it and the city did a land swap with them several years back which is why it wasn't originally developed. An excavator was digging random holes in there a few weeks ago, may have been contamination from an old gun range (actually mentions that in the application).

Ok "several years back" was like 9, https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saska...omes-1.3290948 and I remembered the wrong parcel, it was in the SW corner and that part was only 6.5 years ago. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saska...wood-1.4490873

From what I have read about shooting ranges, there could be tens of thousands of pounds of lead shot out there. Some old ranges have millions of pounds. There are machines made for sifting this out. Lead being so heavy I imaging it is pretty easy to separate.

Story on phase 2 of SaskPower's GTH site. $95 million project.
https://leaderpost.com/news/saskatch...ons-hub-at-gth

Calling it an operations center. I wonder if they are moving the network operations center out there from the innocuous building on Wascana Gate by Arcola. Operations can have a variety of contexts.

Once completed, the more than $400 million Regina Operations and Maintenance Complex (ROMC) will cover almost half a million square feet over 110 acres.
Across the street from SaskPower, global agricultural firm Cargill is at the midway point on a $350 million canola crush plant.
Almost $1 billion with Construction at the GTH, which is unbelievable

Muscowpetung FN says city has been sitting on proposal for Yards
"It's like they're not asking us to leave the table, but they're certainly handing us our hats," said Myke Agecoutay, CEO of Muscowpetung's economic arm.

Author of the article:
The hesitance to take the First Nation’s proposal further than a meeting table has Agecoutay questioning the city’s commitment to Indigenous partnership on more than a surface level.

He said the current council, including Masters, “has been the least engaged administration, from Muscowpetung’s perspective” in years when it comes to consulting with First Nations.
That’s a nice looking building, So you mean to say the city has been sitting on this for years and has done nothing about it there’s something not right here. This got to do with other developments too that the city is stalling they’ve been paid off by somebody demands An investigation of the highest degree how disgusting are they?

College and Broad

Does anyone know what is happenning at the southeast corner of College and Broad? I noticed today they have a big area fenced off, a big sign on the fence with the address and there was a small crew cutting down some of the bushes and trees on the east side of the lot. I know a while back there was a decent sized condo or apartment building proposed but I just assumed that fell through but maybe not?

There were plans (pre-covid) for a low-rise office building (3 floors?) at that corner, so perhaps that is going ahead now. The high-rise apartment building was going to go on Badham Road behind the former Tartan Curling Club.

I don’t remember that. In 2022 there was a seniors’ apartment complex proposed for that site. I believe it was two buildings by Remai. It says “coming soon”, but no other real details on their website. https://www.remaigroup.com/rentals_regina.html
