At one point it was to be developed by span west who did the contracting for the Bible school next to it. At that point it was to be around 160 units and 11 floors from what I remember. I have no clue what's all happened since then sadly.

So Westcliff was behind 639 main 14 story, they also own or are developing 620 Webster and have purchase 906 Broadway- old extra foods and 520 main both to be mixed use properties. They like that area.

Incredible news for Saskatoon way to go
I was much more excited by the announcement until I read the details:

Quote:
According to the city, the proposed partnership is projected to bring in $170 million over 25 years, including $20 million in an up-front capital contribution.
Only leaves us about $480 million short for the capital required to build it. Sounds like OVG360 is more of a concession / arena management company that takes a big chunk of the profits from events:

Quote:
In a move meant to create an incentive to attract larger events, OVG gets an increasing share of profits based on event size and profitability. The city would retain 90 per cent of profits on events generating $2 million or less, to OVG’s 10 per cent. The city’s share comes down to 80 per cent of profits in the $2 million to $3 million range, then 70 per cent of profits between $3 million and $4 million. The city would then get 60 per cent on any event generating profit over $4 million.
That's from this story in the Star Phoenix: https://thestarphoenix.com/news/loca...al-with-ovg360

While I view this as a positive step, it's still not the major capital investment that we need to get this project going.

$170M of $500M would have been awesome... $20M is not. I agree, there needs to be a bigger investment from a partner(s).

Maybe $50M from OVG360 up front would be a better start, not sure if that can be negotiated or not.

I like the basic information explained in this video.
$170 million is stated as the portion the city/OVG360 provides. The remainder to come from Provincial and Federal Governments.

Timeline is 5-6yrs.. when everything is in place. That timeline could double then?

This timeline is my main annoyance when people oppose the project. Saskatoon in 10-12 years will be quite different. We just need a few people with some foresight to see that this will be a good thing. Most that oppose seem to be under the assumption that the project would break ground and be built within a year.

Saskatoon Metro is well and truly over 350,000. Closer to 360,000 and growing.

Yeah it appears we got to this point much much faster than earlier projections.
Assuming there’s no mass exodus, and we can get housing built reasonably fast enough I could see us being at a half million far sooner than projected

Looking at other cities on that list, we have a lot of catching up to do infrastructure wise. Even for our current population

Population rose by 4.81% from last year so going off that we would hit 500k in 2031.

I see the city posted the tenders for the first 14 BRT stations. The tender closes on Thursday. Maybe we'll see some construction this fall?

I am pretty sure that is the plan. I think the news articles about the federal/provincial funding being confirmed all noted some construction starting this year. If so, that'll be great to see.

Has anyone experienced random nuisance registrations against commercial land titles in the Saskatoon area by a business name: Synpar Applications? I am aware of 3 so far. This person seems to to focus on claiming interests in lands arising out incomprehensible zoning and heritage bylaw references.

It is very odd as it costs money to register interests and I can see no logical motivation other than perhaps mental illness.
